Career Toolkit: All-in-one guide for career planning
The Division of Career Pathways created a comprehensive guide to assist students at all stages of their career development journey.

In the Career Toolkit, students will find a detailed resume guide, sample resumes & cover letters, internship strategies, interview tips, and other resources. It also highlights successful alumni who share their advice for career success.

Have you heard?
Since launching VMock (online resume review) in September, more than 2,000 students received feedback on their resume.

One student shared, "VMock is such a helpful service - it made me see the overall picture of my resume in a new light. The algorithms capture small but important errors to be aware of."

UCI coffee socials connect parents around the world

Fall 2019 has been the biggest coffee social event in UCI History! With nearly 30 cities represented and more than 500 Anteaters attending, we have had the amazing opportunity to connect parents across the world.

The Coffee Socials will continue in Spring 2020!

Follow @UCIParents on Facebook for updates on the coffee socials.

Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP)
Winter Waiver Period now open

As a reminder to all registered students and their parents, the University of California requires all registered graduate and undergraduate students to have health insurance coverage as a non-academic requirement for enrollment.
The UC SHIP Winter Quarter (Spring Semester for Law students) Waiver Period is open November 4 - December 9.

Please note:
  1. If the student previously waived out for the Fall Quarter, NO ACTION IS NECESSARY as the Fall waiver remains in effect for the entire 2019-20 academic year.

  2. If the student waived out for the Fall Quarter but now wishes to be enrolled in UC SHIP starting with the Winter Quarter, then please contact the SHC Insurance Services Department to "reverse" the Fall waiver.

  3. If the student is currently enrolled in UC SHIP but would like to waive out because they either missed the Fall Quarter waiver deadline or have obtained other health insurance coverage that complies with UC's waiver criteria, then the student must submit the online waiver application during the period of 11-4-2019 through 12-9-2019.

REMINDER:
The waiver period for Winter Quarter/Spring Semester 2019-20 is open November 4 - December 9, 2019. Please complete the online waiver application as soon as possible and before the 12-9-2019 deadline if item #3 above pertains to the student. There are no exceptions if the waiver deadline is missed. Academic Health Plans (AHP) is UC SHIP's waiver and enrollment vendor.
Ask a Philosopher: Ph.D. student's Q&A project

Around the corner from booths selling volcanic lava bracelets, organic vegetables and aromatherapy crystals, two UCI students peddle Plato, Kierkegaard and other weighty thinkers at an "Ask a Philosopher" kiosk.

Visitors can either formulate their own questions or reach into one of two fishbowls filled with sample conundrums, such as whether an ancient Greek ship that had all of its planks replaced over time would still be the same ship.

The Q&A project - staged at a Long Beach farmers market earlier this month - is spearheaded by Rena Beatrice Goldstein, a Las Vegas transplant who surfs, writes fairy tales and wants to make philosophy more accessible to the general public.
