Jean Burchfield is the new Program Management Specialist for the UME Master Gardener Program! She graduated from Louisiana State University in 2017 with a B.S. in Plant and Soil Systems and a minor in Entomology. While at LSU, she conducted research in the areas of honeybee toxicology and physiology. She was also involved in a student farm on campus helping to bring sustainable and affordable produce to students and faculty.
She then worked as the Public Relations Assistant and Research Associate for the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens and LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station. After relocating to Maryland, she began work for Howard County Recreation and Parks at the Robinson Nature Center before beginning her role in the Master Gardener Program. Jean enjoys travelling, tending to her houseplants, visiting gardens and local farms, and spending time with her two small dogs, Tina and Honey, and her husband, Zachary.
