Happy Thanksgiving! We're winding down the fall season and looking forward to all of the amazing opportunities for the Master Gardener Program in 2020.
This month we're welcoming a brand new addition to the Master Gardener Program, Jean Burchfield! We've also included reminders about VMS hours, the 2020 Green Matters Symposium, and the upcoming 2020 Maryland Master Gardener Conference.
Welcome Jean Burchfield, Our New Program Management Specialist

Jean Burchfield is the new Program Management Specialist for the UME Master Gardener Program! She graduated from Louisiana State University in 2017 with a B.S. in Plant and Soil Systems and a minor in Entomology. While at LSU, she conducted research in the areas of honeybee toxicology and physiology. She was also involved in a student farm on campus helping to bring sustainable and affordable produce to students and faculty.
She then worked as the Public Relations Assistant and Research Associate for the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens and LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station. After relocating to Maryland, she began work for Howard County Recreation and Parks at the Robinson Nature Center before beginning her role in the Master Gardener Program. Jean enjoys travelling, tending to her houseplants, visiting gardens and local farms, and spending time with her two small dogs, Tina and Honey, and her husband, Zachary.
