What is a Facilitated IEP?
According to Principal Wendy Adler, Child's Voice is changing the format of our IEP meetings, moving to a Facilitated IEP format. This will:
- Create a more collaborative team approach to developing your child’s IEP by building and improving strong relationships among team members, reaching a true consensus
- Focus the IEP content and process on the needs of the student
- Emphasize an efficient, guided meeting process where effective communication and reflective listening is practiced.
One parent who recently attended a Facilitated IEP for her children stated: “I liked the display of the agenda and what will be happening during the meeting. As a parent, it is stressful to begin with, especially to hear about their growth and concerns. It was great to hear everyone’s feedback on my boys’ interactions and their growth.”
