FINANCE DEPARTMENT
The City of Jacksonville, Texas has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the budget document that Finance Director, Roxanna Briley submitted. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. It's attainment represents a significant achievement by our Finance Department.

This is the fourth time the City of Jacksonville has received this award.

JACKSONVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT
CITIZEN'S POLICE ACADEMY
The 2020 Citizens Police Academy began Thursday, October 8th. This is an eight-week program that is held at the Jacksonville Police Department.

"The goal of the Citizen's Police Academy is to improve the relationship and rapport between the Jacksonville Police and citizens of Jacksonville and surrounding areas," said Police Chief Joe Williams. Sessions include topics ranging from regarding police administration to criminal investigations.

This current academy class has 22 participants and will conclude with a graduation on November 24th.

Applications for future academy dates are available online or at the Jacksonville Police Department, located at 210 W. Larissa Street.
JACKSONVILE ANIMAL SHELTER
We had several animals adopted during the month of October! Thank you to the community for choosing to adopt from our shelter. Here are just a few of the happy animals who found their "fur-ever" homes!
JACKSONVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT
FD Biennial Audit
The Jacksonville Fire Department recently completed their FD audit with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Chief Fortner said, "The audit covered equipment, maintenance, continuing education of all FD employees & maintaining all departmental and state standards. The department received high scores and did exceptionally well."
Chief Fortner credits the high scores on the audit reflective of the JFD staff members who are dedicated to serving the citizen's of Jacksonville.

LAKE JACKSONVILLE
Buzzard Relocation Efforts
The City of Jacksonville, in coordination with Texas Wildlife Service, is continuing eradication of the large buzzard population at Lake Jacksonville. Weather changes will continue to affect the process but efforts will continue as long as there is a need.

Construction began immediately following the ceremony at the S. Jackson address. Anticipated opening is in late Spring or early Summer 2021.
Chick-fil-A is coming to Jacksonville!
Chick-fil-A Owner/Operator, Marybeth Wade, along with the Mayor, City Manager, JEDCO President and Council Members, revealed the new location of the restaurant in Jacksonville.

The ceremony took place via YouTube Live on October 14th.
Hassell Grilling Games
Lake Jacksonville Campgrounds
The Hassell Grilling Games was held out at the Lake Jacksonville Campgrounds on Saturday, October 17th. Jacksonville Fire and Police Departments were there to battle it out for 'Top Griller' bragging rights! Results will be revealed once the show airs on TV. Stay tuned for more information on when the show will air!

Drive-Thru Trick or Treat
The City of Jacksonville held a Drive-Thru Trick or Treat for the community on Halloween evening.
The turnout was fantastic! Our City employees enjoyed seeing all of the costumes and the citizens of Jacksonville come through to say hello.
We hope everyone had a great time and a Happy Halloween!
