BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA IN THE LOWER NAUGATUCK VALLEY
Pack 14, Oxford - Held a cleanup day for their Chartered Organization and used the new Cub Scout Community Project yard signs.

Pack 25, Shelton - Held a Pack Rain Gutter Regatta and instead of powering the boats with their breath the youth used hand fans. The Pack also held a campfire.

Pack 28, Shelton - Den 1 Webelos of Pack 28 have been active. Here, is a photo of them on their Webelos Walkabout adventure on Oct 17.  They went on a 3.1-mile hike around the Shelton Trails.  The highlight of this hike was that the Webelos of Den 1 (and participants) have now hiked a combined 100 miles since the start of this summer.

The Webelos of Pack 28 are also working with the Webelos of Pack 24 and here they are working on their Cast Iron Chef adventure while practicing social safety. Pack 24 invited Pack 28 to join them on their camp-out at Web Mountain this past weekend.  Fun was had by all and we did not lose any Scouts during the hike while crossing the stream.  We had 10 families join us for this event and 8 families braved the chilly night.

The Tigers of Pack 28 have also been meeting. Here is an image of the Tigers before we set out on our Rolling Tigers bike ride around the Shelton Riverwalk.

Troop 3, Derby - Throughout the summer Troop 3 scouts performed community service by planting, weeding and watering the "Grow Your Own" community garden weekly at the corner of 5th and Olivia Streets in Derby. This is the 3rd year the troop has taken on this responsibility. The troop also participated in the 9/11 ceremony on the Derby Green. Completed hikes at Osborndale State Park in September and the Paugassett Trail at Indian Well State Park in October. Camped in July and October at Strang Scout Reservation. Two new members have joined the troop since September, and 5 youth crossed over from Pack 3 in March. The troop is holding a recruiting night event at Shelton Sports Center on October 28.

Troop 19, Shelton - Returned to outdoor activities by holding a fishing trip for the Troop at Hope Lake in Shelton.

Troop 25, Shelton – Has been hiking with and have even hiked Sleeping Giant, what a great show of social distancing in the arches.

Troop 28, Shelton - Took a hike with their unit and had Webelos from Pack 28, Shelton join them.

Troop 55, Shelton - The pandemic is not slowing down Troop 55 from staying active. They have done the following since August; a service project at Huntington Methodist Church, can drive to raise funds for an Eagle Project, camping at Camp Strang, hiking on Tahmore Trail, scouting out Eagle Project ideas and sites
HOUSATONIC COUNCIL COMMUNITY DAY

Can the Housatonic Council complete 1,000 hours of service in one day in the Lower Naugatuck Valley on November 21, 2020?

It's time for the Housatonic Council to give back to the community, and continue to get outside.

The Slogan of the Boy Scouts of America is "Do a Good Turn Daily". The Activities Committee challenges our units to give back to the community during these most difficult and changing times
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
