Dear Lifelong Learners,
The Scarsdale Adult School remains strong during its 83rd year of operation. While our response to COVID-19 was robust and creative, many challenges remain ahead.
Starting in the spring of 2021, some in-person classes began, and more are being added every week. Walking tours, gallery visits, games, arts and crafts, lectures and more are now available for in-person participation and remote options still abound. A sense of community and social interaction are now enhanced as people are meeting fellow students in person whom they befriended during online classes last year!
There are many unknowns as we continue adding to the fall offerings and look ahead to 2022. Uncertainty in the coming months will continue to present new challenges. Additional funds are needed to prepare for the unexpected.
The Scarsdale Adult School is totally self-supporting. We receive no funding from any school district or municipality. The costs of instructors, operational fees, and staff salaries are met by tuition and the generous tax-deductible contributions of our Board members, Advisory Committee members, ongoing supporters and new donors. Our tuition rates remain low, allowing more students to participate even while socially isolated.
Sincerely,
Terry Singer and Lisa Tretler, Co-Chairs of the SAS Board of Trustees
