Keystone Society Offers Annual Opportunity to Invest in Foundation Initiatives
The Indiana Bar Foundation's Keystone Society offers a compelling, comprehensive, and convenient way to invest in expanding quality civic education and providing financial support for Hoosiers relying on legal aid to gain fair representation. We the People State Championships Set For December 7 and 8
Middle and high school teams are set for the 2021 Indiana We the People State Championships. The historic Union Station and the adjoining Crowne Plaza Indianapolis will host the December 7-8 in-person finals. “With so many talented students, the competition is going to be excellent,” said Foundation Director of Civic Education, Tim Kalgreen. Volunteers are needed to serve as judges (like Abbie Bush, Foundation Grants and Endowments Manager, pictured) during the two-day championship. Registration for judging is available here. Indiana Legal Help Part of National Cohort
The Foundation's Indiana Legal Help program website is being evaluated through the Stanford Law Lab Legal Help Online Cohort. This multi-month process is focusing on search engine optimization, improving engaging and empowering plain language content, expanding the accessibility of website resources, and incorporating user experience design to understand how to make these website more user-friendly.
Foundation President and CEO Receives Supreme Court Honor
Foundation President and CEO Charles Dunlap was honored by the Indiana Supreme Court for his 20 years of service. Justice Geoffrey Slaughter presented a certificate, signed by all justices, to Dunlap during a Coalition for Court Access meeting earlier this month.
Foundation Earns Gold Star Rating for Transparency
The Indiana Bar Foundation earned a 2021 Gold Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, the world's largest source of information on nonprofit organizations. This endorsement reflects the Foundation's commitment as excellent stewards of financial support generously entrusted to us by our partners.
Indianapolis Legal Aid Society to Host CLE Conference
Registration is available for the 8th Annual Indianapolis Legal Aid Society's CLE conference. The December 2 event will be offered in-person and virtually. Six CLE credits are available to those attending the conference. Registration information is available here.
Guerrero Part of New Driving Statute Working Group
Indiana Legal Help Director Kate Guerrero participated in aworking group convened by the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council. The group focused on how best to provide resources on driver’s licenses under the new state traffic amnesty law, HB1199 The law addresses driver's license reinstatements for qualified individuals whose licenses have been revoked.
Also, Guerrero joined Foundation board member Hon. Elizabeth Tavitas as presenters November 19 at the bi-annual conference of Indiana domestic relations judges.
