MAYORS' BREAKFAST

On October 21, 2021, the Housatonic Council held its Mayors’ Breakfast chaired by Mayor David Cassetti of Ansonia, and Mayor Richard Dziekan of Derby. The event honored Gary Parker, Fire Commissioner of Derby, and Fred King, Owner Jenkins-King Funeral Home. Funds raised from this annual event supports the youth of Housatonic Council. Troop 3 of Derby led those assembled in the opening, and Life Scout Alex R. gave the Scout speech on what Scouting means to him.
COUNCIL RECOGNTION DINNER

The evening of October 21, 2021, the Housatonic Council held the 2021 Council Recognition Dinner, normally held in February, this year’s event was postponed to October. This year’s event recognized Pat Gajdosik with the Silver Beaver Award for her dedication to Housatonic Council. The District Award of Merit was bestowed upon Matthew Decho and Mark Sims. The event included recognition of tenure in the Scouting program and the President’s Award. The President’s Award is a Housatonic Council Award that recognizes volunteers within their unit that go above and beyond for their youth.
SCOUTING IN THE VALLEY...

PACK 14, OXFORD - was at Quarry Walk in Oxford and getting the word out about Popcorn (and mums!). Pack 14 followed that up Halloween weekend by participating in the Oxford CT Parks & Recreation Trick or Trunk at Oxford High School, Ct.

PACK 25, SHELTON - Held a successful movie night with the youth enjoying s’mores, popcorn, and candy. Followed by a sleepover attended by 8 Cubs and 2 scouts. Cub Scout Pack 25, ended the month with their annual Halloween Party at First United Methodist Church of Shelton, CT
2021 FALL CAMPOREE - HARVEST FAIR

The 2021 Fall Camporee was held the third weekend of October, and was a wonderful day of Scout Skills, fellowship, and competition. Youth participated in a wash basin construction, popping popcorn over an open fire, testing of the first aid knowledge, scat identification, and a scavenger hunt with one of the items was a selfie with the Scout Executive.

Webelos Division - 1st Place, Pack 3 – Eagles; 2nd Place, Pack 14 – Scouts Among Us; TIE - Pack 7 - Spazzers & Pack 25 – TBD.

14 and Under - 1st Place, Troop 28 – That Patrol; 2nd Place, Troop 19 – Flying Bear Inferno; 3rd Place, Troop 101 – Phoenix.

Over 15 - 1st Place, Troop 65 – Water Warriors, 2nd Place, Troop 3 – Doggers; 3rd Place – Blazing Dragons.
