Greetings -
Our branch board has organized a variety of events for November and December. There will be another branch recital on 11/13, followed by a Pedagogy & Play social event on 11/17. On 12/6 we will be meeting for our annual Christmas Luncheon. It is a joy to be able to gather again for this event after last year’s cancellation. Finally: on 12/11 we are presenting a holiday concert at Christ’s Community Church as a fundraiser to help pay for restoration work on the grand piano there. The 12/11 concert will feature several performers from our branch’s MSSL as well as two additional groups: Countryman Guitar Ensemble and Moreau Catholic High School girls chorus. You will find all the relevant information about these events in the “Important Dates” section below.

For fun: we will continue our tradition with a gift exchange of an item costing $20 or less. Come anyway even if you do not want to participate in this.

Our first Pedagogy and Play meeting is scheduled on Wednesday, November 17, at 10:00am at Olya Katsman’s home 38733 Jonquil Dr. Newark, CA 94560.
Pedagogy & Play is an informal social for teachers to discuss various pedagogical topics, and also a chance to perform for each other or sightread through some 4-8 hand ensembles (optional)!
We’d like to suggest a topic “Making History Meaningful”. How do you incorporate teaching music history in your lessons? You can also suggest any topic for discussion!
We will have pot luck brunch following the discussion and performances, so please bring some food to share!
Sometimes we just need a chance to unwind! Also a friendly chance to meet with other teachers and enjoy each other's company.
There is ample space in the studio, also outdoor patio will be available for those who feel more comfortable being outdoors. However, to adhere to social distancing protocols, we are limiting the attendance to the first 25 people registered. Hand sanitation station will be available. Please wear your mask.

Deadline for parents to pay CM registration fee
Practice tests will be provided for the students through their portal for theory, sight reading and ear training.
Testing dates for our branch (North Region 2). These are the 10 days where the students will take the theory, ear training, and sight reading exam. Also the period for uploading repertoire and technique recordings and the scanned music of the pieces. Remember to include the front cover of the book.
