Collections on the Move!

If you've been to the Main Library recently, you've probably noticed that some of our collections are in new locations. With these changes, we can give more space to our expanding Library of Things and Book Club Kits, improve access to large print materials, and highlight key collections!

On the First Floor, across from the Circulation Desk, you'll find:

  • New fiction, mystery, non-fiction, and biographies
  • Large print fiction, mystery, non-fiction, and biographies
  • Fiction and mystery books on CD
  • The Library of Things, including board games, puzzles, and lawn games
  • Book Club Kits — 6 copies of a book, plus author info and discussion questions
  • Music CDs, feature film DVDs, and TV series

On the Second Floor, across from the Information Desk, look for these featured collections:

  • The Living Library
  • Cookbooks
  • Local History and Reference
  • Travel Guides and Language Learning

On the Second Floor, across from our non-fiction books, we have non-fiction AV:

  • Non-fiction and biography books on CD
  • Non-fiction, documentary, and instructional DVDs
  • The Great Courses

Thank you to our generous donors. The large print collection is given by the Lehmann and Collins family in honor of Gerda Lehmann. The Great Courses are supported by Westwood resident Charles Donahue.

P.S. Our Children's Librarians have also been busy reorganizing, shifting, and expanding their collections. If you're curious about what's new, ask at the Children's Desk the next time you're at the Main Library.

The Living Library

Fall is Here but the Living Library is Still in Full Bloom!

Even though fall has arrived in New England, the Westwood Public Library's Living Library is expanding to some new and exciting places...

The seed catalog now includes a generous donation of tiger lily bulbs which may be "checked out" with a maximum of 2 per patron. November is the perfect time of year to get those bulbs in the ground for next spring so make sure you come up to the second floor of the Main Library to add to your outdoor gardening collection.

In addition, you can now visit the Living Library at our Islington Branch location! Come on in and browse a variety of indoor plants, check out some vegetable/herb seeds, and leaf through our informational flyers which may assist you with your green thumb endeavors.

Calling all chefs! We're gearing up again to collect recipes from the community!

We are looking for a variety of dishes: casseroles, salads, soups, gluten free, desserts, vegetarian, and more.

Submit your recipes to askwestwood@minlib.net or in person at the 2nd floor Information Desk.
