Greetings!
Last month we enjoyed many members' milestone anniversaries at our chapter meeting as well as new member installations. If you missed the meeting, check out the photos at the bottom of the newsletter! If you read the newsletter on your computer, you will have the best experience as you will see all the graphics and photos optimally.
One of our most fun events honoring veterans is coming up next week! I hope you won't miss it! If you are able, please come to our float decorating party on Thursday, Nov 10th. The parade is on the 11th, which starts at 11:00am, with arrival time by 10:15. This counts as a chapter meeting. See the flyer and info below.
Looking ahead, plan on attending our Christmas Tea and the last opportunity to celebrate Old Glory's 125th birthday celebration on December 7th from 2-5pm. More details to follow! At the Christmas tea, our Christmas service project will be collecting money or feminine hygiene items for NOOK, which is a resource center that provides basic essentials (things like coats, shoes, socks, underwear, shirts, pants, basic and feminine hygiene) to students in our community’s schools on demand at the request of a school’s nurse, counselor or social worker.
If you are looking for a place to serve in Old Glory Chapter, please call me and I can help you! Our Committee Chairs tend to be the most engaged members and considered to be the spokes that keep the chapter spinning. We appreciate Committee Chairs! These available co-chair positions are highlighted this month:
- Commemorative Events (need 1 co-chair)
- Conservation (need 2 co-chairs)
- VIS: Chapter Technology needs. You will be trained!
With gratitude for all of you,
Lisa Kenney, Regent

Librarian's Message
Have you donated your time to helping in a school classroom, read to children, taught a Sunday School class, or taught English to immigrants? Have you donated books to church or school libraries? Donated genealogical materials to the TSLA or Williamson County Archives? If so, I want to hear from you! Please email me at oldglorylibrarian1897@gmail.com with details. I don’t need a list of book titles— just the number of volumes you’ve donated and to whom. If you’ve donated time, just let me know the activity and hours spent in service. Thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you!
For God, Home, and Country,

Registrar's Report
In October, the chapter was notified of the passing of Peggy (Margaret) Rogers. Peggy was the sister of Anne Hammond Sander & the aunt of Margie Scudder. The three of them shared a female patriot, Tabitha Jeacocks Peason. Peggy was a resident of Chattanooga and was a long-distance member of Old Glory.
Reba Stinson has resigned her membership after 22 years as member.
Sarah Butler, daughter of Caroline Butler, has transferred to member-at-large. Janice Kay, mother of Jennifer Kidd & Jill Boyle, has transferred to the Hermitage chapter in Memphis, where she currently lives. The Hermitage is the oldest chapter in the state. Janice, who is know for her youthfulness, will be missed. We wish both ladies the best.
Vicki Young is our newest verified member & she received her National Number on Nov. 5. Welcome to Vicki.
We currently have 3 applications in review, with 2 more on the way to Washington.
Wendy Woodrick is an outstanding transfer and Rachel Dziedzic has just transerred. Both have both moved out of state and are transferring their memberships. Rachel will be missed. She was active with the CAR.
At the October meeting of the Genealogy Club, I presented a Supplemental Workshop for members which was well attended & well received, I believe. The Genealogy Club is open to all Old Glory members & Prospective Members. The November meeting will be held on Tuesday, the 29th, at 9:30, in the large meeting room at the Williamson Co. Public Library. It is hosted by Lineage Research Chair, Kathy Gwinn.

Treasurer's message
Annual Dues/Membership renewal collection: Even though the Oct 15 deadline has passed, we are still accepting dues payments until November 23. After this time your active membership with DAR will be suspended. Every one of you are very important to us, so we would hate for this to happen. Contact Debby Curtiss for any concerns or if you are not sure if she received your payment.
The increase dues amount from $75 to $80 is a result of the increase of the National dues of $3, voted on at Continental Congress; and Tennessee Society dues increase of $2, voted at the State Convention. Only those members who receive their national number prior to June 30 will need to pay dues at this time.To protect the voting privileges of the delegates to State Conference and Continental Congress. I must collect dues and report to NSDAR to meet their deadline.
If you pay dues for additional chapter members, please include with payment their name and address or national number so that I may correctly record the payment.
By Check - $80.00
Please make check out to Old Glory Chapter, NSDAR
mail it to:
Old Glory Chapter DAR
PO Box 1002
Franklin, TN 37065
Name Tags
Name tags are now available for order on the Old Glory Store (https://www.tndar.org/storeoldglory/) for $19.00. We will be placing orders in batches of 10 per order. Only members who have received their national number can place an order. Remember to include your name as you want printed on the name tag.
If you have questions regarding Dues or Name tags, please ask Debby Curtiss, Old Glory Treasurer.

Patriot Biographies, Patriot Graphics and videos
Please keep the info and video's coming!
Holly Rimmer's Patriot video
Lise Triggs' Patriot video
Debby Curtiss' Patriot Video
We will be working on a Patriot Folder Project in conjunction with the Williamson County Archives to create a File for each Revolutionary War patriot that lived in the county. This is similar to the WWI Veterans Project that Old Glory participated in a few years ago. We have a list of nearly 230 patriots that will need a file created for them. We have 15 members associated with about a dozen of these patriots, so if you would like to volunteer to work on your patriot's file, sign up now with Christi Malone.
Please also check out the TSDAR Regent's Book project. We would love all your patriot ancestors who lived in Tennessee to be included in the book.

2022-2023 Essay Title: “Delegate to Second Continental Congress"
Reference: The Second Continental Congress met from May 10, 1775 - March 1, 1781, and included delegates from all thirteen colonies. This Congress was instrumental in shaping what was to become the United States of America. Imagine that you are a delegate during 1775-1776. Which colony are you from and what will be important for you to accomplish for your colony?

Join us as we read together Stephanie Dray’s novel and zoom with the author on
February 16th at 6:45pm.
to discuss her book and answer questions.
Based on true events, the novel tells the story of Martha “Patsy” Jefferson and her relationship with her father. It is a story of sacrifice and grit as Patsy tirelessly protects her father’s reputation and supports him as he guides and leads the nation he helped found. The story takes place from the days of Patsy's childhood through her fifties.
