Pride of the Valley

Greetings, Parents, and Families of Steubenville High School,

This has been another exciting month at SHS. Our fall sports teams have experienced an abundance of success.  Our football and boys' soccer teams are still competing in the postseason tournaments.  Our winter sports teams are preparing for the transition into their seasons.

Time flies!  It is hard to believe we are over a quarter into the school year. Recently, we completed the first grading period. It’s important students’ see your support and engagement with their academic progress. This demonstrates to students that you know, understand, and value the importance of the work “we” do here.  Moreover, it helps them prioritize and take responsibility for their learning as they mature and grow older.

As we move into the busy and exciting holiday season, remember to be grateful for what we have, lend a helping hand, and always assume the best intentions. In a world with so much uncertainty, try to focus on what we can control and block out the noise. There is much to be thankful for this holiday season and a lot we can learn from over the past year.

Thank you for your continued support! I am proud to serve Steubenville High School and the Steubenville community. I hope to see you at our upcoming sporting events, musical performances, and other various activities, and as always...GO BIG RED!

Please check the calendar of important dates for further information about events happening at Steubenville High School.

I am very pleased to announce that we’re partnering with the American Red Cross on Wednesday, Nov. 9, to hold our Fall Blood Drive. We are asking Big Red families and students 16 or older to sign up by Nov. 8th to donate blood for our Fall Blood Drive. We need 40 people to sign-up to reach our goal.

Sign-up to give blood

The American Red Cross shelters feed and provide emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.

Ms. Katrina Morrow and her Y-Teen students lead the blood drive for us. If you have questions, please contact her at (740) 282-9741 or email [email protected].

I’m looking forward to donating blood, and I hope you’ll join in the mission, too, on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
