Meet the 2022 Recipients of the TriCircle Memorial Scholarships:

Brittany La Marr
Brittany is a tireless advocate for human rights, youth justice, and legal policy reforms across state, national, and international levels.
Brittany has a B.A. in Political Science from UConn, where she is also an MPP & J.D. Candidate. Brittany personifies the power of education as an alum of Yale Law School’s Access to Law Fellowship and a Frederic Bastiat Fellow of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
She brings her unique blend of lived experience and scholarship to her many leadership roles, serving as: Project Manager of the Juvenile Justice Policy and Oversight Committee with the Tow Youth Justice Institute, Smart Justice Leader with the ACLU of Connecticut, Justice Advisor with Connecticut Justice Alliance, State Lead Advocate with STAND, European/American Prison Project lead with the Institute of Municipal and Regional Policy, and a member of the New England Commission on the Future of Higher Education Behind Bars.
Brittany's extensive experience and education will enable Brittany to bring about much needed change impacting those pursuing education and justice on the inside.

Janeisa Gonzalez Carrero
Janeisa grew up in a family suffering from substance abuse. The impact of such an upbringing inspired Janeisa to help others with their struggles.
Janeisa became a homeowner at 22 and has pursued higher education as her path on her journey, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Pyschology and Criminal Justice.
She has worked at CMHA, assisting clients within a mental health setting as a case manager for older individuals who have been diagnosed with severe multiple mental health issues such as schizophrenia and substance abuse. Her compassion and understanding are traits that connect her to those she helps.
Janiesa is pursuing a Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology. Her lived experiences, her empathy, and her knowledge will ensure that Janeisa will continue to be a valuable asset to those who are suffering from substance abuse and mental health issue.
