The holidays are coming ... this is a perfect time to get in shape so that you can sneak that midnight candy from your child's Halloween stash or enjoy that extra helping of mashed potatoes without all the guilt! Join our Pilates classes to begin your journey to a better you.

• PILATES: Tuesday's and Friday's 10:30am - 11:30am in Studio A with Tina
• YOGA: Saturday's 8:00am - 9:00am in Studio C with Amanda

• ADULT DANCE CLASSES

If you can't make any of the fitness classes, you can still get your sweat on and have some fun in one of our adult classes! Whether you are new or have danced in the past, we have a class for you.

• Adult Hip Hop – Tuesdays at 8:45pm
• Adult Jazz 2 - Wednesdays at 7:30pm
• Adult Tap - Adult Pre-Intermediate Tap Wednesdays at 1:30pm OR Adult Intermediate Tap Wednesdays at 8:15pm
• Adult Ballet - Thursdays at 8:15pm OR Adult Ballet 2 Thursdays at 8:15pm
• Adult Lyrical – Saturdays at 4:15pm

THE BOYS DROP THE BEAT!

Last year we had OVER THREE DOZEN boys train with us! Enroll your son, grandson, nephew, neighbor, friend, etc. into our BOYZBEAT CLASS today. Boys are also welcome in any of our other co-ed class offerings!

• Ages 4-6 Boys Hip-Hop: Tuesdays 5:15 – 6:00pm in Studio C 

2023 RECITAL COSTUME INFORMATION

Your child will be receiving costume information in class the first week of Session Two. It is vital to order costumes as early as possible to ensure that not only will they be received in time for recitals but also to allow enough time for size exchanges if needed. 

• Studio Recitals: Creative Dance and Dance Basics recital opportunities will be held at our studios June 10 – 15. Students will have a recital day and time assigned to them so please watch for this information to be distributed in class and via email. Costumes for these classes will have three options to choose from: purchase ($82), rent ($40), or rent to buy ($60) which includes the recital fee, a trophy and free admission to the show for all audience members. 
• Elkton High School Recitals (Dance Fundamentals & up):
• Costume Prices: Each class in the recital will be wearing a different costume. For example, students taking jazz and tap would need to purchase two separate costumes.
• DISCOUNT PRICE is $82 per costume (paid by 12/7/22 - SAVE $15 per costume!)
• REGULAR PRICE is $97 per costume (final deadline is 1/7/23)
• Children's Combination Medley classes will perform in two dances, but only need to purchase one costume.
• Ballet technique classes will not perform in the recital
• Musical Theatre students will discuss costume options within their class and may or may not order costumes through this process. Please watch for information from Miss Melissa regarding the costuming efforts for Musical Theatre.
• Sizing your costumes: It is your responsibility to estimate the correct size costume as Cecil Dancenter is not responsible for the sizes you select. To order your child's costume, please fill out the order form that will be distributed in class, or received via email the first week of November. The sizing charts included on the form will help you select a size for your child's costume, but please note that the sizing charts differ from costume to costume depending on manufacturer. Please make sure to check the sizing chart carefully. We will supply measuring tapes on each of our lobby desks and/or bulletin boards that you may use. Allow for dancer growth since your child will not be performing until June. Use the GIRTH measurement as the determining factor if your dancer is between sizes. To measure for girth, wrap the measuring tape around the entire torso (through the legs and over the shoulder in a complete circle).
• Size Exchanges: Due to the length of time required to manufacture a costume, size exchanges are permitted on costume items within 5 days of receipt.  Please select your sizes very carefully to avoid size exchanges as fees and shipping/handling apply. Size exchanges are treated like new orders and can take up to 12 weeks to fulfill. There is a $15.00 restocking/exchange fee charged on ALL costume exchanges. There are no refunds for costumes ordered.
• Receiving your costume: Costumes are shipped to our studio approximately 8-16 weeks after placing your order.

LOST AND FOUND

We have a lost and found bin at each studio location for items that get left behind; however, this bin is emptied several times a year with unclaimed items donated to Goodwill or discarded. So don’t delay… look today for lost items!

CECIL DANCENTER TEXT ALERTS AVAILABLE BY REQUEST!

In addition to email and Facebook notices, Cecil Dancenter also uses a text alert system to help keep you informed of important and time sensitive notifications such as canceled classes, inclement weather alerts, important reminders, etc. We need your permission to be added to the list so if you would like to be added, and have not been added in the past, or have a new number, please email the office at [email protected] to have an email with instructions sent to you.

DRESS CODE

Please click here for information regarding our dress code for each of our dance styles. It is important that you dress appropriately so that the instructor can make sure your technique and form are correct. For classes requiring dance shoes we recommend purchasing those shoes at The Dance Station. Slippers found at Walmart or discount stores are not recommended as it's hard for the instructor to see if the foot is properly pointed.

NOTES ON ATTIRE: Although it is becoming more common to see professionals in the dance industry wearing crop tops, halters and sports bras, our studio requires dancers come to class dressed modestly with their torsos covered. We strive to promote a level of confidence that focuses on dance and not body image; therefore, students will be asked to change if they come to class exposing their torso. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact the office. Thank you for helping us to provide a family friendly atmosphere at Cecil Dancenter.

BALLET SLIPPER TIP

Please tuck your dancers ballet slipper laces underneath the top of the shoe. The lace may be cut shorter so it's more comfortable for your child (just make sure to double knot the lace). This provides a more aesthetic look for the mature dancer and for our younger dancers it helps the child/teacher to spend time on instruction rather than tying shoe laces.

PRIVATE LESSONS 

Private lessons are a great way for students to get personalized attention and individualized corrections. We have staff members available to give private dance lessons at a rate of $25-$82/hour. If you are interested in private lessons, please contact our office.

TOYS FOR TOTS

We are collecting new, unwrapped toys for the holiday season.  Please bring in your donation and place it in the designated box in the lobby at the main studio.  Collections will be accepted through the first week of December.  Thank you for helping to make a difference this holiday season.
