Dear Friends,

We have much to be thankful for during this month of gratitude and reflection and you — members of our Global Learning Community — are at the top of our list. Join MY HERO and our partner Actionable Innovation Global in the upcoming GLOW conference and help your students prepare for their roles as active global citizens. The event focuses on developing global competencies and increasing opportunities for cross-border collaboration.

This month, we announce the winners of our Robert Shetterly Portrait Contest and the UN Sustainable Development Goals Poster Contest, as well as the winning films from the 18th Annual 2022 MY HERO International Film Festival, which features the work of student and professional filmmakers. This year, educator Jeffrey Rudkin will be receiving the 2022 MY HERO Teacher Award at the festival.

Thank you for being part of MY HERO.

Sincerely,

Laura Nietzer

Art Contest Finalists

Robert Shetterly, an American artist, and activist, has been a friend of MY HERO for a number of years and generously partners with MY HERO as a sponsor of the Robert Shetterly Portrait Contest which is held annually. This year’s finalists are of all ages and from across the globe, including Hong Kong, the United States, Australia, India, UAE, Pakistan, Thailand, Ukraine, Canada, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, China, and Oman.

Sustainable Development Goals Poster Contest

This year students of all ages from South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Malaysia, the United States, India, Hong Kong, and Slovenia submitted artwork to the Poster Contest to highlight heroes connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Some of the students selected heroes to depict that are working to achieve one or more of the UN’s seventeen goals for Sustainable Development, while others chose to create art to represent one of the goals themselves.
