Endeavors family,

November is a time when we count our blessings and consider what we’re grateful for— our faith, our families, our freedoms, and the many privileges we have been blessed with in this life.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that November also happens to be National Veterans and Military Families Month.

The men and women who dedicate their lives to this country defend our freedoms of religion, speech, and many others as we pursue happiness in our lives. The families of our warriors dedicate themselves to supporting and caring for them long after their military duty. And this month is the perfect opportunity for us to not only reflect on their sacrifice, but thank them for it.

So to the Veterans and Veteran family members who are part of the Endeavors team, I want to say a huge thank you on behalf of the entire senior staff and board of directors. You play a huge role in the important work we do. The experience of military service trained us to defend the vulnerable and gave us a unique perspective when serving others in need. Although you or your loved one has left active duty, your continued service is changing lives still to this day.

We are thankful for you.

Blessings,

Jon Allman

Our Employee Giving Campaign

November 7 - November 22

Believing that caring for the community we live and work is a vital part of doing business, it is essential to “give where we live.” In addition to giving all our employees the opportunity to give back to the programs and communities they serve, we are also proud to partner with United Way, offering a way to make your contributions go even further. - Jon Allman

Noemi Guerra Abarca

Associate Program Director

for HSPRS

Tell us more about what you do at Endeavors.

I basically make sure our Migrant Services programs and systems run smoothly! I manage the way we’re collaborating with our partners, supporting any type of programming for our development system, writing policies and manuals, monitoring compliance, the list goes on!

What do you like about working for Endeavors?

I really like the population that we work for. There are not a lot of government-funded resources for the migrant population, and I think it’s so important to advocate for mental health services for the Hispanic community. I feel like I get to be a part of something important by providing resources.

What do you wish people knew about your team?

This is the most diverse team I've ever worked with! And everyone is really here for the cause.

What keeps you going?

The mission that we have is truly benefitting people who need it. As an immigrant myself, my bond to the work we do is so strong because I can picture myself and my family in our programs. It really touches home.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Life won’t turn out the way you expect! But even if it’s not what you had planned, it will be amazing.

What does success mean to you?

I'll always remember one client who had lost everything: her kids, her home, her job. And her definition of success was just being happy with herself and who she was. It wasn’t about how much money you have, what title you have, how much you've done. I've tried to live by her words ever since.

What would you call your theme song?

All my friends know I love sad songs! They just make me feel better. My playlists are always moody, and I love it.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I have a master's degree in forensic psychology, and I was able to work on a case with the innocence project for a wrongful conviction.
