Hello!

As the semester and fall sports wind down at El Camino College, it's also a reminder that every end leads to a new beginning.

Heading into the holidays, there's so much to be thankful for: family, friends, educational opportunities, laughter and mindfulness -- to be fully present in everything we do.

Let's not forget to take it all in and make it a November to Remember!

El Camino Spotlight: State of the College Was a Huge Success!
With this year's theme Digital Transformation, attendees of El Camino College's 5th Annual State of the College learned about the digitization of our local economy. The event took place on Friday, Nov. 4, and further celebrated the college’s 75th anniversary.

“The changes we are seeing across multiple industries are astonishing and it’s really fast,” said El Camino College President/Superintendent Brenda Thames. “It takes a significant investment and commitment to keep up with new technologies and marketplace demands, but it is absolutely necessary.”

Guest speaker Heather Cook Newman of Microsoft and Electrical Engineering student speaker Moises Santander, further exemplified how El Camino College is the bridge between students and employers; fulfilling higher education needs and paving the way for a powerful economy. El Camino works to place students directly into technology jobs after they complete their degrees through community partnership programs with local companies. The college also works closely with the South Bay Workforce Investment Board to create pathways into the workplace for students in all educational programs.

Football Spotlight: Lando Brown Sets New Career Sacks Record
Sophomore linebacker Lando Brown set the ECC all-time career sacks record on Saturday, November 5, in the team's 30-20 home game victory over Chaffey College.

Brown, who entered the game with 21 sacks and trailed former ECC all-time career leader Daniel Steward (2008-09) by two, earned just enough against the Panthers to surpass Steward, as he recorded 2.5 sacks for a total of 23.5 sacks.

Brown currently has 14.5 sacks this season, which leads the Southern California Football Association. Read more about Brown's record-setting game HERE.
Donor Spotlight: El Segundo Rotary Continues Community Giving
Five years ago, the El Segundo Rotary Club established an annual community service scholarship. Since then, the club has expanded their giving to include support of the Warrior Pantry, Warrior Closet and Community Partners programs.

El Camino College was invited to speak to the club where Sharonda Barksdale, Kim Cameron, and Heidi Wang provided an educational overview of the college, foundation, and the basic needs services offered to students. A check was presented to the Foundation and food and clothing were donated to the Warrior Pantry and Closet.
