Person in Authority Checks


All Person In Authority Checks (PIA’s) should be completed PRIOR to a coach or individual working with a club, athletes, or for Volleyball Alberta. What are the Person in Authority Checks (PIA's) ? FAQ Document. Club Directors, or their screening designates, must confirm all their PIA's have completed the requirements. PIA's on Sportlomo, update as of November 24, 2022 


Coach Eligibility Requirements


Mandatory Head Coach Requirements must be completed by the tournament roster lock deadline to participate in Premiers & Provincials


All coaches, managers or leaders on a roster must complete the PIA checks prior to the tournament roster lock deadline to participate in Premiers & Provincials.


2022 & 2023 Volleyball Canada Youth National Championships Coach Eligibility Requirements


12U Coed Age Class


Volleyball Alberta's new age class will have the following fees and format:

  • Premier 1 North & South – $525.00 + taxes and fees, Saturday only
  • Premier 2 North & South – $525.00 + taxes and fees, Saturday only
  • Provincials - $775.00 + taxes and fees, full two-day tournament


12U teams will play a minimum of four matches in Premier tournaments and five matches at Provincials. Team composition can be combined with male and female athletes or comprised with athletes in one gender, clubs will determine the make-up of their teams. All teams, irrespective of their gender composition, will play in the same competition throughout this inaugural season.  All tournaments will play tripleball using the Mikasa MVA Lite. Volleyball Alberta is looking forward to hosting these events with a festival atmosphere and a focus on fun.

Volleyball Alberta has updated the club season schedule for 2023 Premiers & Provincials. All events marked TBD that were pending facility confirmation have been updated. Schedule is subject to change without notice.

Early Bird Draw


Register your Club & Team for all 2023 Premiers & Provincials between December 1st and January 15th to be automatically entered. Three teams will be drawn from qualifying registrations:


• First Place wins 6 new Mikasa balls and a Mikasa ball cart.  

• Second Place wins 3 Mikasa balls and a Mikasa ball cart.  

• Third Place wins a Mikasa ball cart.


Winners will be announced Wednesday, January 18th

4. Register Team for ALL Premiers & Provincials by the January 15th Deadline

Team Alberta North - Arctic Winter Games


Volleyball Alberta's Team AB North tryouts are open for registration!

Please note the Men's Northwest Tryouts in Grande Prairie have been moved from Saturday, December 10 to Saturday, December 17.


The 2023 Arctic Winter Games will be held in Wood Buffalo, Alberta, from January 29 to February 4, 2023.


Athletes that are 19U (born in 2004 or later) and live north of the 55th parallel (map) are eligible to tryout. Local tryouts will be held in Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray from December 9 to 11 (dates specific to location). Athletes participate in their local tryout only.


Please note the Arctic Winter Games International Committee (AWGIC) has revoked its Policy on Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccines to align with current public health advice. Updated Notification


The deadline to register is December 7th, 2022.
