THE BEGINNING

Eduardo started hunting doves and ducks in Mexico when he was very young. But it wasn’t until 2001 that he started hunting Big Game with his brother, Gervasio (and, since that time, they have hunted together often). That first hunt was to South Africa and the first animal taken was a Cape Eland (which tend to require all the elements of a great hunt including tracking, spotting, picking out the old male, getting into position, and making the shot). That was the hunt that hooked him and didn’t let go.

THE OVIS HUNTS

In August 2002, Eduardo succeeded on a Dall Sheep hunt (with that first Dall pictured above). Since then he has collected 44 different species of Sheep and 67 different Rams.

THE CAPRA HUNTS

Later in 2002 (in November), Eduardo hunted his first Capra species, a Gredos Ibex. He has now collected 39 Capra species, including all four of the huntable Markhor, and 59 different Billies.

FAVORITE HUNTS

Eduardo’s favorite hunts are for Buffalo and the Spiral Horns in Africa, Mule Deer and Coues Deer in Mexico, and any mountain species. Currently he especially enjoys hunting with his son, Eduardo, and he looks forward to hunting with his daughter, Julia.

HUNTING ACHIEVEMENTS

* The Ovis Award from GSCO recognizes individuals who have had an overwhelming passion for hunting the mountains and doing so in fair chase and total integrity. Eduardo has achieved the Ovis Super 40 (including 3 Grand Slams of North American Sheep), the Capra Super 30, and the Super Slam of North America.

*Culminum Magister Fellow (an exclusive organization recognizing Masters of the Summits).
