SHOEBOX MINISTRY

In November, Owens & Perkins and their staff collected and assembled toiletry and personal hygiene items for Shoebox Ministry. This organization coordinates the collection and distribution of toiletry items to the Phoenix Metro area homeless and others who cannot afford these items. We assembled 18 shoeboxes for men and 18 shoeboxes for women which included such items as socks, washcloths, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors and lotion.

Coping with a Narcissist During the Holidays

A narcissist has an exaggerated sense of importance and a deep need for admiration. They don't feel empathy for others. Add that to the stress and drama of the holidays and you have a recipe for disaster. Here are some tips for dealing with a narcissist during the holidays. 1. Don't expect sympathy or emotional support - they're not capable; 2. Don't get defensive and react poorly - it won't get you anywhere; 3. Set firm boundaries - don't let yourself be manipulated or mistreated; 4. Be prepared for resistance from them - narcissists believe they are unfairly blamed and will turn any blame back on you; and, 5. Look after your own mental and physical health - take time to yourself to re-charge your body, energy and mood.
