‘Tis the season of Thanksgiving, even though some of you and your family members may still be suffering sugar comas from Halloween sweets. I am so thankful for the important people in my work life who support FYIdaho’s purpose, mission and vision for Idaho youth. This is a good month to share those and tell you how we are adding some support groups to make sure we are more inclusive of your needs and convenient to your lives.

FYIdaho Purpose: FYIdaho educates policy makers, professional organizations, legislators, educators, and the public about the needs of children with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges and their families. Fundamental to FYIdaho is a focus on family participation and support.

FYIdaho Mission: FYIdaho is committed to improving, preserving, and restoring the mental health of youth and families by:

  • Promoting youth and family voice to youth-serving systems;
  • Partnering with families to navigate and access resources and community supports;
  • Operating youth programs that empower youth to advocate for themselves and others;
  • Educating parents, professionals, and others working with youth in a broad spectrum of topics relevant to youth mental health.

FYIdaho Vision: A world in which all children are offered opportunities to experience and realize their full potential.

Central and essential to our work is supporting families and youth in a variety of ways to help as many people as possible. This month we are adding 2 evening support groups as we know daytime is impossible for some and preferable for others. We recognize evening can be complicated too, but we hope some of you will find this an easier option for receiving support, offering peer support to others and sharing a glimpse into your lives and experiences that can help us all become better advocates together. There are registration links to our groups below and I hope you find something to meet your needs and schedule. Please call our Family Support Line (208-433-8845) or send us a message at Support@FYIdaho.org if you are unable to attend a group but have a support need or a support idea for us.

Please see our upcoming youth activities below and contact us to receive our weekly youth activities publication for in-person youth activities at the Boise Brick House and Youth MOVE Idaho schedule. These can also be viewed at our website events page.

We value you greatly.

Appreciatively,

Ruth York
