Holiday Arts & Crafts

Winter holidays are fast approaching. Now is the best time of year to indulge in creativity while also checking things off your gifting to-do list. Many gift-themed arts & crafts classes are starting in the coming weeks.


Experienced painters may enjoy Botanical Watercolor Simplified (Course 12212), a new course introduced by new instructor Bonnie Cotnoir. Learn color blending, washes, and dry brush techniques as you capture colorful flowers on your canvas. Class meets Monday mornings starting November 6, 2023.

Crazy for Collage (Course 11998) with Katie Goldberg begins on Monday, November 13, 2023. Explore different techniques in this user-friendly accessible art medium. No experience is necessary and fun is a key component of the experience.


After Thanksgiving, get into the spirit of the season with a newly added one-session class on Gift Wrapping Basics and Beyond (Course 12311) on Monday, November 27, 2023. An idea that sprung from Advisory Committee member Dana Matsushita, this newly added class will help beginners make their gifts look professionally wrapped.


Prepare for winter in Melissa Shinsato's next class, Knit Hat and Fingerless Mitts Workshop (Course 12135) starting Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Course is appropriate for knitters that are confident with beginner skills and ready for the challenge of using circular needles to make a hat and fingerless mittens, suitable for gifting. All supplies are included in the cost of tuition.


The next session of Introduction to Beadweaving (Course 12267) with Carmelina Calabrese also begins Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Create jewelry using a needle and thread and learn some of the basic stitches in this resurgent art form.


A must for avid readers, a newly added one-session Bookmark Making Workshop (Course 12312) with Dana Matsushita provides the perfect setting to discuss favorite books while creating beautiful bookmarks to use or gift. Spread the word among all your book club friends. All supplies will be provided. Class meets Thursday, November 30, 2023.

Students in Robin Ingram's next installment of A Tisket, a Tasket, Learn to Make a Basket (Course 12038) will create a holiday gift basket. This bowl-shaped basket can be useful for holiday events or as a gift to a host. Start to finish all in one day on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, class will take a break for a BYO lunch.


The final arts & crafts offering this year, Holiday Card Crafting, will help you with your seasons greetings. Create unique, hand-crafted holiday cards and tags with Katie Goldberg on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 (Course 12010), and/or Wednesday, December 13, 2023 (Course 12014).
