November 2023 Newsletter

Dear John,

As we find ourselves in the midst of the holiday season, INPEA would like to thank you for your partnership and support! Together, we have accomplished much, BUT as the saying goes, there is much more to do!

So here at INPEA, as we prepare for our holiday celebrations, we will also be heavily focused on preparing for the upcoming 2024 legislative session. Even though 2024 is not a budget year, we will still need you to be actively engaged. To that end, we will be conducting virtual advocacy trainings, producing our annual board and stakeholder advocacy video, and asking you, as we always do, to do your INPEA advocacy homework! That is: Make sure that your school has a legislative liaison, that they participate in one of our advocacy trainings, AND setting two public policy goals for your school.

Thanks so much for engaging! We need you!

The INPEA Team,

John, Chris, Andrea, and Beatrice

Legislative Liaison Corner

Thank you to everyone who has signed up or recommitted for an additional cycle as a legislative liaison! We will send a separate communication to legislative liaisons and school leaders in early January.

Preparing for the 2024 Legislative Session

The 2024 legislative session begins in January. Although it is not a budget year, it is still important for our non-pub stakeholders to stay engaged!

Here are some ways you can prepare for the 2024 legislative session:

  1. Attend an INPEA virtual legislative training session. Learn more and RSVP here: https://bit.ly/2024INPEATrainings
  2. Work with school leadership to complete the 2024 Legislative Planning Worksheet
  3. Schedule time to meet with PTO leaders, school commissions, etc., to explain the importance of legislative advocacy and communicate the school’s legislative priorities.

INPEA Dues and Data Survey Delayed

Dues are being been sent via mail and those letters are starting to go out. If you have not received your dues invoice, please reach out to Beatrice Bursten. Remember, dues are based on your 2022-2023 enrollment.

We are making several changes to streamline our annual data survey so we are delayed in getting this information to our schools. We will send the data survey link and login credentials to you the week of December 4. If there is someone other than the principal who should receive and complete the survey for your school, please contact Andrea Anderson with that contact information. We ask that you complete the survey by December 22. Standalone preschools will receive a separate survey at the beginning of 2024.

INPEC 2023 Follow-Up

We are finishing up all the follow-up work for INPEC and are looking for feedback from schools with little or no participation in the conference. This information is vital to future planning. If your school did not attend INPEC 2023 or sent only a few people, please complete the survey here.

Save the Date for INPAC 2024!

INPAC, INPEA’s administrators’ conference, is scheduled for September 26 & 27, 2024 at the Renaissance Hotel in Carmel. This conference is geared towards all school leadership, including boards. Mark your calendars today!

ADAC Advocacy

As an INPEA member, your school is eligible to receive FREE support from ADAC Advocacy. You may remember ADAC from the study and training they have done over the past few years.

The INPEA Board agreed to continue our relationship by having ADAC on retainer to support our INPEA jurisdictions and schools. This support is being provided to schools at NO COST and will assist you with fully accessing your eligible students’ services that are funded under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The ADAC Advocacy team can help your school with navigating child find, participating in consultations, and maximizing proportionate share.

INPEA and our jurisdictions are funding the cost of the retainer. Schools accessing ADAC services should loop in their jurisdictional leadership. For more information, download the resource below.
