2003 Grand Opening of

Houmas House Estate and Gardens

On November 1, 2003 Houmas House was reopened. There was a grand wedding held for Sam and Grace. Many guests joined us for the occasion. Grace entered in a horse drawn Carriage wearing her beautiful Wedding dress and Sam arrived in an 1828 Hunting Carriage with white doves. They signed a prePUPtial agreement and of course ended their wedding with a kiss.

The two photos on the left shows how the pathway leading to the turtle bar looked before and after is was transformed.

Our Annual Thanksgiving Buffet is open for reservations! Weather permitting, this event will be held on the front lawn with the museum as the back up plan should it rain. Reserve your table by calling our gift shop during business hours: 225-473-9380. Prepayment is required and can be handled over the phone. We look forward to celebrating this holiday with you and your family!

First Annual Walking in a

Winter Wonderland

Our event begins in the Dixie Cafe where you can purchase a specialty Christmas cocktail then stroll through the gardens to enjoy our spectacular Holiday Decorations. We invite you to take a quick group photo under our beautifully decorated Burnside Oak, the largest in the world. To be followed by a Christmas ladies luncheon in the Carriage House Restaurant.

Baton Rouge Symphony

The beautiful grounds of Houmas House Gardens set the scene for a special edition of Holiday Brass. The Symphony brass and percussion players perform traditional holiday favorites, including some BRSO custom arrangements. Make a night of it and schedule dinner at one of the estate’s fabulous restaurants.
