"Thank you for being kind enough to bring more Christmas magic into our home" - Gift Card Recipient

Giving a gift card that allows survivors to shop and pick out just the right gift is truly giving the gift of empowerment. It may seem impersonal, but it is deeply meaningful to hundreds of survivors who have been trapped financially or made to feel powerless by their abusers. When you give them a chance to shop and make their own choice, it is a huge step in the healing process to regain their sense of control and freedom. The joy and inner strength that comes along with a survivor being able to choose the perfect gift for their own child(ren) is priceless. With your help, you can make the holidays a little brighter this year.

"The generosity and love you have shared by thinking of others moves mountains. Thank you truly” - Gift Card Recipient

Reflections

Reflection. Remembrance. Rejuvenation. Resilience. These are only a handful of the words we can use to illustrate the impact of our Annual Vigil. The Charles A. Brown Ice House of Bethlehem set the stage with its tender and inviting embrace; the echoes being filled with uplifting music by Dina Hall. Each space of the venue was carefully crafted, guiding participants through a circle of healing. Moments of quiet reflection, followed by empowerment and reassurance steered the evening, as members of our Lehigh Valley community walked through their own individual and collective healing journeys side by side.   Click below to continue reading.

"Every time I come to this event; I leave a little stronger than before."

"This year's vigil was special. I felt like the speaker was speaking directly to me and telling me I could do it."

Meet Our New Board President

At our Annual Meeting, the Board was pleased to elect Lauren Wieser as our next Board President. As a CPA working for CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, Lauren has shared her financial acumen as well as her enthusiasm with the Board since joining in 2019. We asked Lauren to share a few thoughts with us about this new opportunity.

What do you hope to accomplish during your time as President?

"My hope as President is to see our three-year strategic plan through. The team worked hard and dedicated their time and energy to put this plan together, and I am really looking forward to seeing the organization grow over the next few years. Our plans include strengthening housing offerings, expanding services to ensure all survivors have access to those services, expanding our building, and diversifying our funding sources. Through this plan, we will be able to help more survivors and work towards our mission of eliminating domestic and intimate partner abuse in the Lehigh Valley."

What would you share with other young professionals considering taking on leadership roles?

"I would tell young professionals to surround themselves with people who share similar goals and values. Learn everything you can from those around you, and then share what you’ve learned with others. Being in a leadership role means building a team that trusts each other and will work hard to accomplish the team’s goals. Don’t be afraid to take on a new challenge!"

What is the one thing you most want people to know about Turning Point?

"Turning Point meets people where they are at. They are continuously looking for innovative solutions to provide survivors with the services they need. Over the past few years, there has been an increased need for Turning Point’s services, and it is through the help of our generous donors that we are able to continue providing and expanding these services."
