Gobble, Gobble! November is here, and Lisle is ready to celebrate! From the Turkey Trot to Thanksgiving to the upcoming Christmas holidays, there's something for everyone to enjoy this month.
Lisle Area Chamber’s Turkey Trot Tune-Up 5K
Get your Thanksgiving legs ready with the Chamber’s Turkey Trot Tune-Up 5K on Sunday, November 12th through Lisle Community Park. This fun and family-friendly event is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the fall weather. The race will start and finish at the Lisle Community Center, and there will be medals for the top finishers in each age category. The Chamber will be donating $5.00 per race entry to the West Suburban Community Pantry. Also with each race entry, each participant will receive a voucher for a FREE regular value meal at Culver’s Downers Grove/Lisle (2500 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove). Click Here To Sign Up!
Thanksgiving
Of course, no November newsletter would be complete without mentioning Thanksgiving. This is a time for family and friends to come together and give thanks for all the good things in their lives. Whether you're hosting a big feast or just enjoying a quiet meal with loved ones, be sure to take some time to reflect on all the things you're grateful for.
Lisle Events
In addition to the Turkey Trot Tune-Up 5K and Thanksgiving, there are several other events happening in Lisle for the holidays. Here are a few highlights that are early in December, so you do not miss them:
- Lights of Lisle: The Lisle Holiday Festival will be held on Saturday, December 2nd, from 3-7pm. This festive event will feature a tree lighting ceremony in front of Village Hall at 5:00pm, caroling, crafts, and more.
- Santa Parade: The Lisle Santa Parade. This annual parade is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. The parade will kick off at 4:30 p.m.
- Christmas in the Park: Christmas in the Park will be held on Saturday. This event will feature a hayride, bonfire, and other holiday activities.
- Merry on Main: (Throughout the day) – Take a stroll down Main Street and join participating downtown businesses for holiday fun! Enjoy holiday themed activities including games, decorated windows, store and restaurant specials, giveaways and drawings, holiday treats and more!
November is a time to celebrate all the good things in life. So, get out there and have some fun! Enjoy the fall weather, spend time with loved ones, and give thanks for all the blessings you have.

Valerie Janke has been a Chamber member since 2012 and she joined the Ambassador’s Committee quickly after becoming a member. She sponsors several events for the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce including the Dinner Dance, Wine Event, and 5K.
Valerie is Director of Emerge Wealth Strategies. She works in a financial planning capacity with clients to help them get where they are trying to go in their financial lives. She has been in the financial services industry since 1995 and received her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2012.
She lives in Woodridge and has 1 dog. She is a sucker for a furry face! Valerie works as a Family Mentor with JDRF Illinois because of her close personal connection to Type 1 Diabetes, as well as organizing a walk team for The American Cancer Society’s DuPage Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. She is a regular volunteer at local events.
Valerie enjoys being an Ambassador for the Lisle Area Chamber because it helps her build stronger community relationships. She has a commitment to working in her local community to strengthen ties both personally and professionally. She has made some wonderful friends because of the Chamber.

The Morton Arboretum
Firefly Pavilion at The Morton Arboretum
Firefly Pavilion is a newly constructed facility that opened this fall for private rental at The Morton Arboretum. Located on the East Side of the 1,700-acre Arboretum, this three-season venue is available May through October for events such as weddings, receptions, conferences, galas, and other personal and business functions. The building is situated amid the trees and landscapes of the Arboretum, providing a special experience for guests in a natural environment with stunning views of the surrounding plant collections and specialty gardens. The 8,000-square foot open-air structure offers access to an outdoor patio. It accommodates various numbers of guests, depending on the type and format of event being hosted. Firefly Pavilion is one of several spaces at the Arboretum offered for private rental indoors and outdoors. The Arboretum's onsite Ginkgo Catering service is the food and beverage provider. Inquiries about rates, availability, and usage can be directed to the Arboretum's facility rental team at 630-725-2190.

Santa Parade Participation Information
Calling all of Santa’s helpers! The Village’s annual Santa Parade will occur on Saturday, December 2nd, in Downtown Lisle at 4:30 p.m. Local organizations, residents, and others are encouraged to participate in the parade that coincides with the upcoming Lights of Lisle festival. It’s November, so it is time for our Annual Turkey Trot Tune Up 5K on the Sunday, November 12th at the beautiful Lisle Community Park. Culver’s Downers Grove/Lisle has donated a voucher to each race entry for a regular value basket at their location, 2500 Ogden Avenue, Downers Grove. The Chamber will be donating $5.00 per race entry to the West Suburban Community Pantry. We will also be accepting non-perishable food items at the race for the West Suburban Community Pantry. Look for the ballot in November for the 2024 Board of Directors. The ballots will be sent to your e-mails. You can vote for the two new Board of Directors for the Chamber Board. The Finance Committee and I will be preparing the annual budget and events for 2024. As we review bringing back some of our favorite events, we will also be planning some new ones too. The Membership Directory and Community Profile is a labor of love for our members and community. This takes a lot of time to put together, select photos, write articles, edit, and make sure our members information is updated. I want to say a special THANK YOU, to Claudine Rummer for all her above and beyond organizational skills, photography, writing skills, and patience. I am excited for the 2024 Membership Directory and Community Profile that will be delivered in January.
We will host our Annual Meeting & Luncheon at North American Pizza & Culinary Academy on December 6th from 11:30 am – 1:15pm. Please join us to thank our 2023 Board of Directors and induct our 2024 Board of Directors. This is also a networking opportunity for our members. The Ambassador of the year will be presented at this luncheon.
