IDDSI in Action in Asia

Many thanks to the Taiwan National Health Research Institute (NHRI) for inviting IDDSI to present at the International Conference for Healthy Aging and Nutrition. IDDSI was well represented in oral and poster presentations at the event. The conference featured experts from around the world who are passionate about nutrition research to help everyone age in a most healthy way.

The Food Industry Research and Development Institute (FIRDI) also featured IDDSI in their conference. Peter Lam, IDDSI Chair & CEO had the opportunity to address the food manufacturers in Taiwan about how to use IDDSI in research and development of food for the elderly. Many thanks to Nina Cheng, Taiwan IDDSI IRG Co-Leader, for the amazing simultaneous translation of the presentation. Congratulations to FIRDI for organizing such a great event.

In Hong Kong, IDDSI was prominently featured at the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit 2024. Thanks for the guidance of the Hong Kong City Council of Social Services, exhibits were purposely designed to educate the general public about IDDSI and the need of modified food and drinks for individuals living with dysphagia. Premiering at this year’s event are texture modified versions of popular Hong Kong cuisines which are now available at famous local restaurant outlets. IDDSI Levels 4 Pureed, Level 5 Minced & Moist, Level 6 Soft & Bite-Sized and Level EC7 Easy to Chew foods are more readily accessible than ever.
