Dear family and friends of Christ Church,
As I sit at my desk today, November 4th, my heart is still full from this weekend! What a joy it was to be a part of last night’s All Souls’ Requiem Mass. When Joe, Diana and I sat down in September to discuss whether to offer this work, I shared my conviction that musical offerings like this are one of the real gifts Christ Church makes to this community. Most churches in this area are not able to make a work like the Faure Requiem available, utilizing mainly “in-house” resources.
During this season of stewardship, as many of us (and I hope you!) are discerning how we can support this parish in the coming year, I hope you too delight in the good stewardship we model of our talents and resources. Our music program is just one example: God has blessed us with an abundance of musical talents. We invest in leadership to help support those talents, and together make regular offerings to the glory of God.
This is the spiritual cycle that I hope to continue fostering:
1. We recognize our particular gifts.
2. We invest where needed to help those gifts develop.
3. We offer our gifts back to the community with joy and thanksgiving.
Though we invite a free-will offering, last night’s service is only possible because of the generosity of our musicians and of the many who make a financial commitment to support this and the myriads of other ministries we offer in Christ’s Name.
If you have not already explored our annual giving materials, I invite you to click on the links below. If you have any questions, please do reach out to me directly.

We Remember those Who Left Us this Year | |
We thank you, O God, for the saints of all ages; for those who, in times of darkness, kept the lamp of faith burning; for the great souls who saw visions of larger truth and dared to declare it; for the multitude of quiet and gracious souls whose presence has purified and sanctified the world; and for those we knew and loved, who have passed from this earthy fellowship into the fuller light of life with you.
Edith Bale, Adele Bastinck, Barbara Dansereau, Thomas Fogg, Ann Hamilton, Katherine Kleindienst, Kathleen Marquard, William McCain, Virginia Richardson, Jeanne Stevenson
Almighty God, with whom still live the spirits of those who die in the Lord, and with whom the souls of all the faithful are in joy and felicity: We give you heartfelt thanks for the good examples of all your servants, who having finished their course in faith, now find rest and refreshment. May we, with all who have died, have perfect fulfillment and bliss in your eternal and everlasting glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
