*Mentoring Across Differences*

Pictured: Front Row - Dr. Mordecai Harvey (MSU), Dr. Dexter L. Lee (HUCM: Physiology and Biophysics), Dr. Tamaro Hudson (HUCM: Pharmacology), Dr. Kimberlei Richardson (HUCM: Pharmacology).  Not pictured: Dr. Karl Thompson (HUCM: Microbiology).

Faculty from Howard and Michigan State Universities designed a curriculum to improve mentoring support for trainees from historically excluded groups, and therefore currently underrepresented, in the biomedical sciences. Many underrepresented trainees have mentors who are from well-represented racial and/or ethnic groups with a need to better understand the perspectives of students.

The investigators plan to jointly publish the curriculum and make it available through the University of Wisconsin – Madison’s Clinical and Translational Research Mentoring Resources. The curriculum was introduced to faculty during a workshop at Michigan State University on October 1st and 2nd 2024.
