Message from the Vice Provost for Faculty Success
Greetings Mean Green Colleagues,
I hope you are enjoying the cooler air, which makes for a delightful time to be in this part of the country.
Faculty Success is excited to launch the faculty mentoring training on Bridge. This helpful resource is grounded in a network mentoring model and offers valuable strategies, robust vignettes, and good starter conversation ideas to use in your mentoring relationships. Faculty Success developed this resource based on faculty and administrator feedback over the last year, and we look forward to hearing about your experience using this new resource.
We are gearing up for our spring Faculty Success initiatives, one of which is our much sought-after Crucial Conversations two-day workshop. We are excited to hold our spring workshop at Discovery Park in February, and registration is open now. We continue to receive powerful testimonies from our workshop alumni about how the framework helps make difficult conversations more productive. Faculty Success is also wrapping up our Salute to Faculty Excellence (SFE) awards review. With a cadre of over 50 dedicated faculty serving on SFE committees, we are halfway through selecting our 2025 award winners to be recognized on April 17 at the Monroe Pearson in Denton. Wow, do we have some amazing faculty!
Finally, the COACHE Steering Committee provided a brief update on the UNT COACHE website about their progress and future work. Our colleges will soon receive their college reports, and we are working with multiple stakeholders on how they can use the results in their work and across President Keller’s three strategic initiatives. You can still join one of our focus area groups by contacting one of the leads noted on the website.

Please encourage your students to participate in the Student Perceptions of Teaching (SPOT) survey, the student evaluation system for UNT. Although it is only one indicator used to assess teaching effectiveness, the survey is a valuable tool that allows students to confidentially provide constructive feedback to improve the quality of student experiences at UNT.
| |
Visit the faculty portal to learn how to add a link to the SPOT survey to your Canvas page, add your own questions to your course evaluations, pull past term reports and preview surveys created by your department SPOT coordinator. | |
