NEW CALIFORNIA OSHA REQUIREMENTS
On July 23, 2024, California OSHA introduced new indoor heat protections for indoor workplaces to prevent worker exposure to heat-related illnesses. Under the “Heat Illness Prevention in Indoor Places of Employment” standard, California employers must apply safety measures when indoor temperatures exceed 82 degrees Fahrenheit. These requirements may include providing water, rest, cool-down areas, monitoring, and additional training for affected employees.
On September 20, 2023, Senate Bill No. 553 (“SB 553”) was signed into law, which requires covered California employers to take steps to prevent and respond to workplace violence. Effective July 1, 2024, requires covered employers to adopt a comprehensive workplace violence prevention plan. Click here for more details about these requirements.
Greeneye Partners has updated our Health and Safety Manual Template to include a Workplace Violence Prevention Program and a Heat Illness Prevention Program that are both required in the state of California. Those not in California can choose to edit the programs as desired.
