November 2024

Lower Providence Library News!

Hello Friends! Happy November!

We are in the home stretch of 2024, and starting this weekend the days will become shorter and the nights longer, making the perfect season to visit the library!

This month the Friends of the Lower Providence Library will be hosting their $5.00 bag sale, starting Saturday, November 9, ending Saturday, November 16. For $5.00 you can fill a bag (provided by the Friends of the Library) with as many used books to take home and enjoy!

All proceeds benefit the Lower Providence Community Library.

Did you know that you can check out museum passes from the library?

The money raised by the Friends of the Library helps us to purchase all of the museum passes in our collection. Every year we are able to purchase memberships to participating institutions in Pennsylvania, to ensure that our patrons can experience everything that our state has to offer. We are so excited to announce that we have purchased a membership to the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. Other pass favorites include the Elmwood Park Zoo, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and the UPenn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

All passes are available on a first come first serve basis and are checked out for 3 days at a time. To see what passes are available please call the circulation desk: 610-666-6640 ex 0

One of my new favorite devices in Mystery Thriller books is the Podcast, especially when listening to an Audiobook. Through the Podcast's character interviews and host narrations, the reader is able to experience the story through a different lense. Often the audiobooks have a full cast narrating the story, and music to accompany the Podcast chapters. For me I find these books to be especially submersive and entertaining, and a great companion to any roadtrips!

Here are 3 of my favorite books that have a Podcast as part of the story:

Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera

None of this is True by Lisa Jewel

Sadie by Courtney Summers

Happy reading and see you at the library!
