Attention, Kansas 4-H members! The deadline for the Kansas 4-H Scholarships is Monday, January 5, 2026.

We know spring is packed with 4-H activities and deadlines, so this change is designed to make your scholarship experience smoother and less stressful. With two separate due dates for project award applications and scholarships, you’ll have more time to prepare your best work in both areas!

Plus, selections will be completed early enough for seniors to share scholarship results with their high schools, so you can be recognized for all your accomplishments.

The scholarship application is now live on the Kansas 4-H website — don’t wait, start yours today!

4-H Program Fee Waivers

The 4-H Program Fee is $15 per member. Waivers are intended for those who need financial assistance. To receive a waiver, you must tell why you are requesting the waiver and it cannot be because you have always received a waiver.

Waivers are sponsored by generous donors to the Kansas 4-H Foundation.

Cloverbuds and Adult Volunteers do not have a program fee.

Kansas 4-H/FFA Dual Enrollment

4-H Youth Development and Agriculture Education/FFA promote teaching youth life skills. Both programs exist to maximize the participants’ knowledge of agriculture and its value to our communities while educating the young people to become productive citizens. Eligible youth may participate in both 4-H and FFA but shall avoid duplication. Therefore, the following principles are required to be used in delivering the 4-H and FFA programs in Kansas as we strive to educate youth.

·   When young people are members of both 4-H and FFA, they shall plan and manage separate projects, and/or supervised agriculture experiences (SAE) programs.

·   FFA and 4-H members may enroll in the same area of experience in 4-H and FFA, however; participants cannot identify, nominate, manage, keep records on, or exhibit the same plants, animals, etc. in both organizations. Members must designate exhibits as either FFA or 4-H at weigh-in, registration or similar deadline.

·   Members may participate in judging contests and related events in FFA and 4-H but cannot represent both organizations at a contest, show or event at the same time.

Horse ID Papers

The Kansas 4-H Horse ID Certificate (P1039) was updated for the 2025 4-H program year. If you have Horse ID paper with revision date from before the July 2024 please destroy those and use this updated form. If you filled out the new form in 2025 you do not have to start a new one. Just turn that one in. They are due by June 1, 2025.

As a reminder, to properly identify your horse, complete the 4-H Horse ID Certificate, have your Extension Agent sign it and copy it. A COPY of the Horse ID Certificate is kept on file in the Extension Office and the 4-H Horse member maintains the ORIGINAL certificate. The original certificate is presented by the 4-H member to show staff for check-in at the local 4-H horse shows.

Beginning in 2025, registration papers ARE NOT acceptable to identify your horses for the 4-H Horse project. Please use your Kansas 4-H Horse ID Cetificate when showing your horse. Here is the example of the Horse ID Certificate  filled out correctly.
