The City of San Marcos recently received a $3.57 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to construct a new driveway and roundabout connecting the airport to FM 110. Design is complete, and construction is scheduled to begin in Fall 2026.

As part of this project, the City plans to restore and relocate the historic Graham Tower, which will serve as a focal point at the new airport entrance. The tower will be repainted in its original white and orange color scheme, a nod to its World War II-era history and the site’s early days as an Army Air Force base.

With the new entrance underway, City Council will soon vote to name the new road and we’d like your input before they do!

Current name options under consideration include:

  • Hubble Drive – honors the engineer who originally designed the base.
  • Graham Drive – recognizes the historic Graham Tower.
  • Aviation Way – complements Airport Drive and highlights the site’s purpose.

We’d love to hear your ideas too! When you vote, you’ll also have the option to suggest another name. We’re especially looking for names that have historic significance to the airport or its past military role. (Please note: names including “Gary” or “Edward Gary” won’t be considered to avoid confusion with existing city streets.)

Vote for your favorite (or suggest a new one) here: https://forms.office.com/r/ZFhR6yDiqs

After reviewing your votes and write-in suggestions, the Airport Advisory Board will make the final suggestion to Council at the November 20th board meeting.

Your feedback will be shared with City Council before they make the final decision this winter. Thank you for helping us celebrate the airport’s history while shaping its future!

It’s lease renewal time at San Marcos Regional Airport! Please keep an eye out for an email from DocuSign with your new agreement.

San Marcos Regional Airport has officially transitioned to a reserved ramp parking system. All ramp spaces are now leased or reserved, with the exception of the transient parking area in front of the FBO, which remains available at no cost for short-term visitors.

If your aircraft is currently parked on the ramp and you do not yet have a parking agreement, please contact Airport Management as soon as possible to get one in place.

We still have space available to accommodate additional based aircraft, and we’re happy to help find a reserved spot that fits your needs.

This update marks an important step toward maintaining an organized, safe, and well-managed airfield while ensuring fair and consistent use of airport facilities for everyone.

The Airport Safety Group meets quarterly and welcomes anyone interested in working together to improve safety at San Marcos Regional Airport.

These informal meetings provide a space to discuss real-world safety topics—like managing increased flight training activity, minimizing vehicle access to the ramp, and identifying proactive solutions to emerging risks.

Your insights matter. Whether you're a tenant, pilot, student, or staff member, we encourage you to attend, share your perspective, and help us keep the airport safe and efficient for everyone.

Coffee’s on us—we hope to see you there!

We’re rolling into another Airport Advisory Board meeting, and you won’t want to miss it! Come for the updates, stay for the donuts, kolaches, and your free airport t-shirt (if you haven’t snagged one yet).

It’s your chance to hear what’s happening at the Airport and connect with others who care about the future of our airport.

Meeting agendas are posted 1–2 days in advance and can be found here:

Good conversation, good food, and great company—see you there!

Work has begun on a new wastewater line on airport property. While the project is being privately constructed, the line will be available to support future airport development.

Construction crews and equipment will remain outside all Taxiway Object Free Areas and will not operate on paved surfaces. When work occurs within the Runway 13 Protection Zone, the tower will coordinate temporary daytime closures. Runway 13 will be reopened each evening. Crews will move quickly through this portion of the project to minimize impacts.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as this work is completed and will continue to prioritize keeping disruptions to a minimum.
