This week, Amy Hitchmoth, NDCR Director of Marketing and Communications, had the privilege of attending the 2025 SNDdeN National School Leaders Conference in Baltimore — an inspiring three days filled with mission, reflection, and the joyful spirit of St. Julie Billiart. It was an extraordinary gathering of educators, Sisters, and leaders united in the work of making God’s goodness known.
We were especially proud to see Dr. Kelly Basile, associate professor at Emmanuel College and NDCR’s newest board member, deliver an insightful opening keynote on the leadership legacy of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Her message about purpose, compassion, and resilience set a powerful tone for the conference.
We also heard from Patricia McGuire, President of Trinity Washington University, whose keynote addressed the urgent need for Catholic education to respond boldly and faithfully to the signs of the times. Her passion for educational equity, leadership formation, and mission-driven institutions was both challenging and deeply energizing.
Another transformative moment came from Sister Patricia Chappell, SNDdeN, who reminded us with conviction that “HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.” Her keynote — and the joy of meeting her (pictured) — was a profound gift and a grounding reminder of the courage and faith that St. Julie and Françoise invite us to embody today.
Our visits to Maryvale Preparatory School and Sisters Academy of Baltimore were equally moving. We also collectively attended Mass at Corpus Christi Chapel… This 1923 historic chapel is located on Trinity School's campus. Walking their campuses, seeing their students thrive, and experiencing their communities firsthand touched me in ways I will never forget. My heart will never be the same after visiting those schools. Their mission is alive, vibrant, and deeply rooted in the charism that unites us all.
In Amy's words, "This weekend reinvigorated me. I return to NDCR with renewed hope, fresh energy, and a deeper commitment to the sacred work we do each day."
What an inspiring reminder that we belong to something larger — a global Notre Dame family carrying the mission forward with faith, courage, and joy.
