NOVEMBER 2025 NEWSLETTER

Hurricane Season Ends November 30th

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season officially concludes on November 30th, marking a year of relative calm for the Gulf Coast region. The National Hurricane Centers graphic depicts the tracks of this season’s storms, the majority of which remained well east of the continental United States. Nonetheless, preparedness is essential to effective public health and emergency management. As we enter the off-season, we urge continued investment in community resilience through ongoing weather awareness and comprehensive readiness measures.

New Workforce Initiative Program Aims

to Better Prepare Public Health Workforce

80% of the public health workforce doesn't have a public health degree. That reality, seen not just in Louisiana but across the U.S., leaves a critical gap in knowledge and training for the professionals charged with protecting the nation's health. The Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University is working to close that gap.

The Certificate in Public Health program provides students and working professionals with foundational knowledge of public health and creates a pathway for further study.
