I recently had the privilege of attending the League of California Cities' 2025 Annual Conference and Expo, held in October at the Long Beach Convention Center. City leaders, mayors, and innovators from across the state attended the event to join the insightful general sessions and workshops tackling pressing topics like improving civility in governance and navigating California's economic trends through expert forecasts. The expansive Expo Hall offered invaluable networking with service providers on everything from infrastructure solutions to mutual aid systems for fire and rescue. Thank you to the League of California Cities for hosting another incredible annual conference and expo!

I attended the 15th Annual Ivey Ranch Park Western Hoedown in October at the Ivey Ranch Equestrian Center in Oceanside. Ivey Ranch Park Association provides equine-assisted therapies and adaptive recreation programs that support physical, cognitive, and emotional development for children and adults with disabilities. The event featured live music, dancing, a silent auction with over 100 items, raffles, and horse demonstrations. Proceeds support therapeutic riding, school-age care, adult programs, respite services, and the community garden. The fundraiser helps expand access and reduce program waitlists.

In October, the Oceanside Fire Department hosted their Open House at the Fire Department Training Center. The event let residents meet the Fire Chief, explore fire engines and equipment, practice using fire extinguishers, participate in hands on safety demonstrations, and enjoy a pancake breakfast fundraiser. Activities included live rescue scenarios, child safety seat checks, smoke alarm information, and tours of the training facility. Thank you to the Oceanside Fire Department for hosting another successful Open House!

Assemblymember Laurie Davies recently celebrated local veterans with her Assembly District 74 Salute to Service event hosted at the Veterans Association of North County. I had the honor of nominating John Todd. John is retired U.S. Marine Colonel with 34 years of service in the Marines. He has also served on many committees and commissions for both the city of Oceanside and San Diego County. Unfortunately, John was unable to attend and I accepted the resolution on his behalf. The event featured many other great heroes who were recognized. Thank you to the Assemblymember for hosting such a fantastic event and shining a spotlight on those who served our country.
