Invitation to our Fall Meeting


We invite all members and guests to our fall meeting, featuring a special lecture on the early history of pianos in America.

Dr. Tom Strange, Curator of The Sigal Music Museum, will present highlights including the first commercially made piano from 1775 by Johan Berent, instruments from the revolutionary period, and stories such as the piano made for the Marquis de Lafayette and one connected to the Nullification Crisis. The museum’s exhibit will showcase early pianos and other period instruments.

Back by popular demand, Peter and the Wolf returns to the Gunter Theatre for two enchanting performances! Delight in the melodies of Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 paired with an adventure-filled story about two children from the Carolina Mountains named RaeLynn and Luke. Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved Peter and the Wolf comes to life with a new twist on the old tale, narrated by Greenville’s own Mimi Wyche.

The evening culminates with Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, written during his time in California, blending lush melodies with a touch of American influence in his final masterpiece.
