In addition, this newsletter provides information on two grant opportunities and registration information for the YVCF marketing training next week.

Moffat County Update
Due to the federal government shutdown, more than 706 households, totaling 1,313 individuals in Moffat County may see a delay in receiving their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
In response to the Federal disruption in SNAP benefits, Moffat County Department of Human Services has partnered with Yampa Valley Community Foundation and Love INC, to help provide supplemental benefits for eligible Moffat County SNAP recipients in the form of grocery gift cards. Private donations through the Yampa Valley Community Foundation secured more than $115,000 of philanthropic funding for this effort.

Routt County Update
Due to the federal government shutdown, more than 600 individuals in 423 Routt County households will not receive their typical Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits beginning on November1.
After assessing available options—including prepaid debit cards, food bank capacity, and regional coordination—Routt County has developed a temporary, equitable solution to ensure food access for SNAP recipients. On October 28, 2025 Routt County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve up to $60,000 from County reserves to fund grocery gift cards for SNAP households.

Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund
Our region’s trail systems give residents and visitors unparalleled access to the outdoors. The Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund is a permanent endowment for non-motorized trail and trailhead maintenance projects on public lands within Routt and Moffat Counties.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
Wildlife Habitat Improvement Local District (WHILD) Endowment Fund
The WHILD Endowment Fund supports wildlife habitat improvement projects including capital projects, planning, research, studies, management, enforcement, education, and other wildlife habitat improvement projects within the geographic boundaries of Routt County.
Charitable organizations as well as federal, state, or local government agencies may apply for funding through an annual competitive grant cycle with funding recommendations provided by a grant committee.

ALERT: GoFundMe's "Nonprofit Pages"
NonprofitNewsFeed reported that recently, GoFundMe automatically created “nonprofit pages” for approximately 1.4 million 501(c)(3) organizations using publicly available IRS data and information from partners like the PayPal Giving Fund.
Last week, GoFundMe made the "Nonprofit Pages" opt-in only. If GoFundMe created a page for your organization without permission, the pages will no longer be visible unless the page is claimed or verified.
GoFundMe receives a transaction fee of 2.2% plus 30 cents per donation to a nonprofit fundraising page in addition to a so-called tip of 16%. While the so-called tip is characterized as optional, a donor must manually reduce this to zero in order to remove the so-called tip. GoFundMe recently indicated they will remove the “tip” until a page is claimed.
What You Can Do Now:

Verify your organization's possible presence on GoFundMe, here.
- Review the page for correct address, EIN, and mission details.
- Determine your next step. Claim your GoFundMe listing on their website and then delete the listing online.
- Educate your donors. Remind supporters and sponsors to give through your official platforms—not through third-party pages you didn’t create.

Board Member Contract
Thank you to the nonprofit leaders who joined us for our Board Fundamentals training last week. Oftentimes individuals who are just starting out in board service may be unclear about their responsibilities and commitments as a board member. This Blue Avocado article offers one way to be sure that you get all board members on the same page - developing a board member contract.
A board member contract is slightly different from other agreements, as it is a two-way commitment between the board member and the organization to carry out certain responsibilities. As we approach 2026, many organizations are in the process of recruiting and onboarding new board members. It may be a good time to consider drafting a board contract to provide new and continuing board members clarity on their responsibilities to the organization.

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
Mental & Behavioral Health Survey
Yampa Valley Community Foundation, in partnership with the Katz Amsterdam Foundation and several community partners, is striving to understand the ever-changing mental behavioral health issues in our community. To assist us with this, YVCF has engaged PRC, an independent research firm, to gather information from community members and from people who provide behavioral health services.
There will be two surveys conducted in this process – a Quality of Life and Behavioral Health Community Survey, and a Mental Health Provider Survey. The Community Survey will launch this month, November 2025. We will reach out to you with more information including a QR Code and link to the survey that we are hopeful you will share through your communication channels, to your staff, your clients, donors and the community at-large. The more responses we can gather in the survey, the better the data will be, and the more informed we will be in potential next steps in furthering the mental and behavioral health efforts in our community.

As the regional champion for this statewide program, the Yampa Valley Gives landing page yvgives.org displays only nonprofits serving Routt and Moffat Counties, making it easier for donors to find your organization's donate page.
The Yampa Valley Gives Toolkit points to the regional URL and helps our local nonprofits promote the program. This branding campaign has been highly successful over the years.
