Tie One On For Safety and Teen Drinking Prevention

With just a week until Thanksgiving, we have officially entered the holiday season. However, along with the joys of the holidays are the dangers. According to MADD, "some of the most dangerous days of the year on our nation’s roadways are between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day," and "Last year, 1,068 people were killed in drunk driving crashes, which is 29 percent of total traffic fatalities during this time."

In order to help prevent drunk driving, MADD's Tie One On For Safety project promotes safe drinking and driving practices, and encourages individuals to promote safety by displaying the MADD red ribbon on vehicles and social media. For more resources on the Tie One On For Safety project, click here.

Additionally, MADD provides resources on Teen Drinking Prevention including the Power of You(th) booklet, while debunking myths about teen drinking. They also have a Power of You(th) Tookit and the Power of Parents resources.

Other resources to help prevent teenage drinking include SAMHSA's Talk. They Hear You campaign, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Resources to Prevent Adolescent Alcohol Use , and CollegeDrinkingPrevention.gov .
