Shop and Dine Local this Small Business Saturday!

The Palisades fire had a major impact on Malibu’s small business community, resulting in more than $40.9 million in economic losses and the closure of at least 13 local businesses.

Malibu is excited to welcome a wave of new local businesses opening! Come check out the new restaurants, boutiques, fitness studios, dance studio, Jiu Jitsu studio, home décor and art shop, surf shop, indoor golf range, sunglasses shop, perfumery, and auto-detailing shop.

Each business in the community brings fresh energy, creates jobs, and builds the gathering places that make Malibu so special. This Small Business Saturday, the City encourages residents to shop and dine locally to help support Malibu’s ongoing recovery and keep the community strong.

Business-to-Business Space Share Program

Business-to-Business Space Share is a free, temporary exchange portal created to provide immediate relief for businesses and nonprofits displaced by recent winds and wildfires. The platform connects those in need of short-term workspace with businesses and organizations across LA County that are generously offering space at no cost.

FIRE PREPAREDNESS

Understanding Fuel Moisture and Wildfire Risk

Live and dead fuel moisture levels are key indicators of wildfire danger in Malibu. Live fuel moisture measures the amount of water in living plants, while dead fuel moisture reflects water levels in dried vegetation such as brush, leaves, and twigs. Higher moisture slows fire spread and low moisture increases how quickly a fire can ignite and move.

Do You Know Your Evacuation Zone?

During emergencies, LA County issues evacuation orders and maps through the Genasys system, the County’s official platform for real-time instructions. While the City of Malibu does not own or operate Genasys, we collaborate with LA County and leverage it as our primary source for evacuation information.

The City is updating its Evacuation Plan and wants to hear from you! Take our short survey to share your feedback on improving evacuation routes, alerts, and transportation options. Please pass it along to neighbors and community groups so we can gather as many perspectives as possible. All responses are confidential.
