OUR MISSION:

We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
FROM THE DESK OF MRS. TIEZZI

REMINDER: TOMORROW IS AN DISMISSAL DAY
NO AFTER CARE

Dear SRS Parents,

As we approach Thanksgiving Day, it seems fitting to reflect on the concept of gratitude for all those who make up our school community.  I am thankful for our teachers who are dedicated to providing your child/ren with an academically-excellent, safe, nurturing and faith-filled learning environment each and every day. I am thankful for our dedicated support staff who answers your questions, prepares and serves lunches, keeps our school clean, takes care of sick children, provides emotional or academic support and enrichment and handles any other situation that may occur. I am thankful for our hardworking and energetic students who bring a smile to my face each and every day.  I am grateful to Msgr. DiSciacca and the parishioners at Divine Mercy Parish for their continued support. I am grateful to our parents and grandparents for the many sacrifices they make in order to send your child to St. Rita School. God has blessed each and every one by bringing us together as the St. Rita School family. Throughout this holiday season and beyond may God continue to bless and protect you and your family.

Thank you for entrusting your children to our care. On behalf of the faculty and staff, I wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi
Principal

Help decorate our school family Christmas tree! A few years ago we began a new traditional of a school family Christmas tree. Each family is asked to share a Christmas ornament for our tree. These ornaments will be returned after Christmas. The ornament should have your family name on it and can be handmade or brought. Please send your ornaments in after Thanksgiving to help decorate our school family tree.

ACADEMIC YEAR

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (Nov. 14, 2019) – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) today opened applications for what is thought to be the most financially rewarding national scholarship for Catholic high school graduates.

The $100,000 ($25,000 per year) merit and need-based USJ Catholic Promise Scholarship is available to any incoming fall 2020 first-year or transfer student who has met the following criteria:

  • Earned at least a 3.0 unweighted high school GPA at the time of admission to USJ
  • Enrolls as a full-time residential USJ student with an active campus housing assignment in fall 2020
Catholic Promise scholarships of $25,000 annually are renewable for up to four years if the recipient maintains full-time enrollment, resides on campus, and if academic conditions are met while enrolled at USJ.

“Since our founding in 1932, our mission has been to help deserving students access the best college education and experience possible to meet their goals, and to graduate students who are ready to serve society,” said President Rhona Free. She continued, “Today, we are launching what we believe is the most generous national scholarship of its kind for Catholic high school students who want to continue their education at a University that integrates mission and its Core Values into the student college experience, from academic curriculum to student activities.”

Recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as Connecticut’s No. 2 school in Best Value for National Universities, after Yale University, this scholarship along with comprehensive student financial services throughout their education with USJ demonstrates the University’s commitment to sustaining its commitment to offering degrees with values and value.

Does Your Company Offer Volunteer Grants?
Volunteer grant programs, also known as “Dollars for Doers” programs, are corporate giving programs created to encourage volunteerism in communities where employees live and work.
Through these programs, companies provide monetary grants to organizations where employees volunteer regularly.

Please take a moment and ask if your employer participates in a Volunteer Grants Program. Your time and talent at St. Rita School could turn into dollars for our school! Questions? Feel free to contact Joanne Bruno at  jbruno.stritaschool@gmail.com .
The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school

Over the summer, participating brands began to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app , available now. The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online.

If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products.
