Winter Reminders from Public Works:
Village Snow Plowing Procedures:
Village crews clear streets starting with the main thoroughfares, the crews then proceed to streets adjacent to schools, after that residential streets and alleys are cleared. Sidewalks next to village land (i.e. Village Hall) are also cleared.
Resident Snow and Ice Removal:
All residents and business owners are responsible for snow and ice removal from public sidewalks adjacent to their properties within 24 hours of a snow event. Please clear all corners with crosswalks. Handicap accessible ramps should be cleared out en
ough to accommodate a wheel chair. Visit the
Village website
for more details.
Snow Storm Cart Placement:
Please continue to place containers at least three feet from any obstruction and three feet from the curb, with arrows facing the street. In the event of snow, please place your refuse and recycling carts either in your driveway apron or remove snow off of a portion of your parkway so your carts can be placed there. Please do not place your refuse and recycling carts in the street during the winter months as it can affect proper snow removal by our village snow plow crews. Proper placement is imperative to automated collection.

News from the Health Department:
Did you know? Don’t invite illness to your Thanksgiving table! The Thanksgiving meal is the largest meal many people prepare each year. Food handling errors and inadequate cooking are the most common problems that lead to foodborne disease outbreaks. Follow some of these helpful tips.
There are three golden rules for any kitchen: keep it cold, keep it hot, and keep it clean.
- Wash your hands for 20 seconds with warm water and soap before starting food preparation and between preparing different foods. That’s about the time it takes to sing Happy Birthday to yourself.
- Foods that can spoil or grow bacteria should be kept cold (under 41 degrees).
- Once foods are cooked, keep them hot (above 135 degrees).
