Within a few weeks of the final notes being played at the 2018 edition of the Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES Festival, organizers and staff began making plans for the weekend of August 15 thru 18, 2019-- the 27th edition of ROOTSandBLUES.
Building on the momentum from a recent string of successful ROOTSandBLUES Festivals, this event has become one of the highlights of the Shuswap summer. Not only are plans being made by the festival staff, but patrons also mark their calendars and begin the process of looking towards one of their favorite weekends of the year. December 4th marks the date when early bird tickets go on sale at the ROOTSandBLUES office.
A hot deal at the box-office comes just in time for the holiday gift-giving season, and those weekend passes come with the news that one of the stars of Canada's roots music scene will be headlining ROOTSandBLUES 2019.
Jim Cuddy will be fronting his six-piece band on the ROOTSandBLUES main stage, and the guitarist/singer-songwriter will also be performing in a workshop setting on one of the venue's side stages.
From the earliest days of Blue Rodeo and a career-making song like Try, to favourites such as Pull Me Through, Countrywide Soul, 5 Days In May, You Be The Leaver and so many more, Cuddy's impact on the Canadian music scene sits at a level few artists have achieved.
Over three decades of sold-out halls coast to coast, as a solo artist and co-frontman of Blue Rodeo, is indeed a rare accomplishment. He has also earned multiple Juno Awards and is a recipient of the Order of Canada.
Jim Cuddy has been one of the nation's favorite musical sons, and ROOTSandBLUES is proud to light the fuse to the 2019 festival with this headliner announcement.
Weekend passes go on sale on December 4, 2018 and available for purchase at www.rootsandblues.ca, or by phone at 250-833-4096.
