COVID Testing - Appointment deadline today

Carondelet is proud to offer free COVID-19 tests to students and employees this Wednesday, December2 on campus. All testing is complimentary and voluntary, though we encourage all students who come to campus for hybrid learning or cohorts to take advantage of this opportunity.

Testing is by appointment only* so schedule your student's appointment now before registrations close tonight. Visit our On-campus Testing webpage to find a summary of the process including how to sign up and mandatory paperwork.
COVID-19 Update

Holidays in the COVID-19 world are a challenge for all of us. To keep our community safe and our school open, it is as much about what happens off campus, as on campus. Though we have no desire to intrude on a family's personal plans and interactions, we remain concerned about our return to campus after Thanksgiving break, knowing that there is an inevitable increase in travel and social interaction. As messaged earlier this month, if your family is in a situation where they are not able to consistently follow social distancing and masking protocols, please move to distance learning until your family has taken a COVID-19 test and received negative results. This is not intended as punishment or a negative request, we want to be able to continue with hybrid learning up to Christmas break and create as safe an environment as possible for our students, families, and our employees. Families who intend to move to distance learning the week after Thanksgiving should alert Malisa Meemari in the Attendance Office.

As the county has moved back to the Purple/Widespread designation and the spread of COVID-19 is increasing, know that we are prepared to adapt our learning environments as needed. The reason that we are able to remain open even though we are in the purple designation is that we have shown an ability to create a safe environment and to control the spread of COVID-19 through those protocols. This was messaged by County Health in advance of our opening in the hybrid and we are grateful for all the help from everyone on campus in enforcing the necessary steps that allow us to keep our hybrid learning in place. We will keep you posted as we receive information moving forward.

Our students are doing a great job in the use of masks and our distancing in classrooms is excellent. Lunch is the most difficult time to ensure separation, but our students have been cooperative when we have reminded them to create that 6 feet of distancing. It is this area that concerns us most in terms of travel and interaction with others over Thanksgiving as students have to unmask while eating and drinking.
Seniors - Yearbook due dates coming

Class of 2021 Seniors & Families,
Yearbook has several important items that are all due to us by December 1.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know:
Early College Credit - new courses available

Enrollment for Early College Credit classes through the College of the Siskiyous for spring is now open. Visit our Early College Credit webpage for class schedules and registration forms. These classes are available for sophomores, juniors and seniors, but make sure you are not overloading yourself with too much work. These classes are entirely online and do require 3-5 hours per week of dedicated time. Please reach out to Mr. Cushing if you have questions or for more information. Return registration form to Mr. Cushing via email or you can drop forms off in his office on his desk if you are on campus.
School Pictures

Freshmen, sophomore, and junior hybrid students will take their school photo the week after Thanksgiving break. Creative Imaging will be on campus from 1:30-3:30 PM on:
  • December 1 for Mon./Tue. hybrid students
  • December 4 for Thu./Fri. hybrid students
Sign up for appointments now!

Ninth, tenth and eleventh grade students who are in our distance learning model will have their school photo day in January. More information to come. Seniors, we will use your senior portraits for your ID card. More information on distribution to come.

Women of Will!

Margaret Gallagher '22 produced this video featuring Cougar student-athletes as part of Under Armour's Women of Will day last week, celebrating women in all levels of sport.

During the Women of Will event, we had the opportunity to e-connect with female athletes across the country. What a phenomenal experience. It was so inspiring and gave us hope for the future. We are #CougarStrong!

Fall Camps
As our fall camps come to a close we would like to recognize all of our amazing coaches. Even though this was their typical season of play for many of them, they didn't hesitate to adjust their schedules to give our girls these opportunities to train. More importantly they gave them the ability to have a mental break from Zoom school and a chance to interact with their sisters. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

We will be taking a break from camps following Thanksgiving Break and are hoping to restart them once we return to school in January. During this time we will be working to ensure that the winter sports are running smoothly and safely (see tryout schedule above).

Thanks to everyone who joined Photo Walk #6: Autumn with Chris Walsh, Director of the Center for Innovation. Great color contrast and composition. You can almost imagine hearing the leaves crunch as the bike rolls through them. And it looks like the bike is just floating on a bed of leaves. Nice work!
