Dear Parents,

This Sunday, December 2nd marks the first Sunday of Advent. This is the season of anticipation of Christ and is about four weeks in length. It is important to remember that although it is an exciting time of year for many reasons, it is truly about how Jesus entered our lives as a babe in a manger for the salvation of all mankind. During this time of year the school, parish, and families all partner together to educate the students in the importance of the Christ-event in human history.  There is nothing more important than spending time in reflection and peace with our Lord especially at this time of year.

On Monday evenings during Advent, St. Catherine of Siena Parish will have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. What a wonderful way to express our love and thankfulness to Jesus through the Holy Eucharist.  We are very fortunate that Father Marcello extends himself to the SCSS community in these ways.

Quote from Pope Francis:

"Advent is a time when we journey towards Jesus and His Kingdom of justice and peace."

Faithfully Yours,

Miss Giaquinto

St. Augustine Medal of Service

Congratulations Annette DeMoura

The St. Augustine Medal is given to acknowledge the honorees for their volunteer service to parishes and schools. T he ceremony was held on  November 17th.

Bishop Caggiano spoke to the honorees and said, "  you who are being honored are being honored not simply because of all the good that you do, as important as that is, not simply because of the witness you give, as important as that is, but because you have discovered the  mystery  of love
and willing what God wills."

We are so very grateful for all Annette's years of service to our school and her willingness to share her time and love to help make SCSS the special place that it is.

Cash accepted or checks made payable to St. Catherine School. For any questions contact Jena Corsello or Amy Mignone at ( or (

Trees of Hope Delivery

Our Trees of Hope were delivered over Thanksgiving weekend to the Maritime Center in New Haven, CT,  where they will be raffled off to support the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut.  We have been decorating and donating trees for over 25 years.

We are the only school that donates trees and they love to see what new themes we think of every year. They are grateful for our school's support.

Thank you to The Ennis, Kriz, Wells, and Colabella families
for making the delivery for us.
