We begin our November series by looking at what it means to serve, to be called to service, and to actively work with God to care for the world.
Jesus confronts the Pharisees and scribes with their greater assertion of rights rather than responsibilities. Many enjoy handing work to others, lifting nothing to help those who struggle. More often than not, they lift up their titles and privileges as exemptions from service rather than serving.
Titles and public displays of respect are not signs of God's endorsement or favor. The church is not a bank or country club, and membership (despite popular opinion) does not have its privileges. Greatness, according to Jesus, is measured not by title and respectability, but by serving. Blessing in order to be a blessing for others. God made us for faithful service. Christ entrusts us to serve others on his behalf. The Holy Spirit strengthens and equips us to be the hands and feet of God's mercy, kindness, and compassion.
None of our service will ever be forgotten, as Christ exalts those who live humbly, rather than chasing the favors or titles of others.
Attend Worship: Pastor Jason has encouraged an "A grade" of 90% worship attendance (missing less than 5 Sundays in a year). You can keep up your attendance by joining worship online through our Facebook premiere or our worship online page. Join us in person or online... it will count!
