Governor Reynolds Declared Today One Health Day in Iowa

Iowa is joining dozens of other states to declare today, November 3, "Iowa One Health Day". Governor Kim Reynolds signed the proclamation last week.

The purpose of this proclamation is to support, strengthen and expand One Health-related efforts in Iowa, and to increase awareness of One Health principles to improve human health, veterinary health, agriculture, and land stewardship.

Photo: Accepting the proclamation document were IVMA legal counsel, Jenny Dorman; State Public Health Veterinarian, Dr. Andrew Hennenfent; and IVMA Executive Director Dr. Randy Wheeler.

Iowa Vet: Dogs, Cats, Corn, & Murder Screening

Join veterinarian Dr. Alan Younkin, Iowa State DVM 1983, for a free, special screening of “Iowa Vet: Dogs, Cats, Corn, & Murder”, followed by a Q&A with Dr. Younkin and filmmaker Michael Schelp.

The documentary follows Younkin’s remarkable journey from growing up on an Iowa farm to attending Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine and building a successful veterinary practice in the big city. Along the way, his life takes unexpected turns involving animals, family, professional upheaval, murder, Mormons, and a modern family.
