Vintage Scouting Memorabilia On eBay

Even after all these years (like 11 yrs) of putting out the Hot Finds sometimes I get to work and am so enthralled with what I have on tap that I forget to schedule the newsletter to publish. I've included some pictures below so you can see the pile of stuff that was facing me Tuesday morning which led me to totally whiff on publishing this issue.

Order of the Arrow Top Selling Auctions

What you are looking at is basically months and months worth of accumulation from buying small collections. It's a great strategy but in the end I have so much bulk stuff that has to be sorted out in order to make any use of it. All the rank patches, troop numbers and jamboree patches all have to get put with like items. Actually its more like about 3-dozen different tubs that I sort into and it's a monster project putting a hand on every single item.

Scouting Auctions Ending Soon on eBay

Over the last few days I've come to the decision that I am going to steal an idea from Aaron Carlson (well he told me about it!) to move this stuff. I'm going to create some really diverse mixed lots and start auctioning them off on eBay. It will almost be an artistic experiment to cover the table with a colorful assortment of a hundred or more items to lot out. The fun starts tonight!

Do don't get me wrong on this bulk lot idea. I've already culled the stock by setting aside the OA, shoulder strips, vintage event patches - basically all the stuff I like to list individually on eBay. But what do you do with the 50th example you have a 2nd class rank patch from the 1960s? Or when you get a collection that has 100 of the same patch? So all that will provide some color for me to sprinkle in these lots and see if Aaron's strategy can work for me. :)
